Blue Horseshoe Stocks: IDXG Recap & More

Interpace Diagnostics Group, Inc. IDXG

We last talked about IDXG on the 16th of last month. (Please excuse us for being currently unable to provide the link to that report like we normally would, as our primary servers are located in Houston, and our service provider is still recovering in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.) Subsequent to that mention, we observed a low of .72 in IDXG, and the run we’ve seen has been pretty impressive.

Yesterday the stock hit 1.73, which represents a 140% increase, and the stock closed with strength just below its high of day, so we’ll be interested to see if there will be further gains in store. The key for IDXG will be to maintain above the NASDAQ minimum bid requirement of a dollar per share on any pullbacks.

Insmed, Inc. INSM – Options Update

We highlighted our interest in a set of options for INSM in yesterday’s report to try to take advantage of the flux in activity caused by the company’s positive Phase III results on its rare lung disease treatment study.

We saw the beginnings of what could be a good idea that we’ll want to continue tracking in the INSM 09/15 $27-30 Calls. The $27’s we’re the only ones that were pushed into the money, and they did manage an intraday run from a low of .95 to 1.60 for a 68% swing on the day. We’ll continue to keep an eye on these contracts if INSM can manage to record higher lows over the next few sessions.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: IDXG, MJPI & More

Interpace Diagnostics Group, Inc. IDXG

We had a few solid performers from yesterday morning’s report, but IDXG was definitely the cream of the crop. We saw a huge initial surge out of the gate followed by a steady ramp-up for the remainder of the session.

From a low of .3619, IDXG traded as high as 1.20, which represents an intraday run of 232% and it occurred on more than eighteen times the 30-day average volume. Not only that, but it managed to close above the dollar mark at 1.01. With price action and momentum like that combined with the fact that we’re seeing another gap-up here in the premarket, we’ll defintiely be on the lookout for further activity today, possibly in the form of a dip-and-rip scenario.

The big move was largely catalyzed by the release of a PR alluding to the fact that Aetna has agreed to cover Interpace’s ThyraMir™ test for all of its 46 million members. (>>View Full PR)

MJP International Ltd. MJPI

MJPI extended its gains yesterday and secured its status as a multi-day runner. We tagged this stock on Wednesday at a low of .85 and witnessed a decent run to 1.18 (+39%). Yesterday we recapped its performance, including the very bullish close and high volume,  and mentioned that a continued run could be in the cards.

We turrned out to be spot on in our assessment, and MJPI persisted in its uptrend, trading up from a morning low of 1.20 and reaching a new high of 1.63. That worked out to an intraday push of 36%, and extended our two-day gains on this play to a highly-respectable 92%

Options Recap

Twitter, Inc. TWTR – After furnishing us with double-bag gains yesterday, our target contracts that we initially put forth last Thursday, the TWTR 01/20 $19 and $20 Calls, recorded some modest intraday gains and added to our cumulative totals.

01/20 $19 Calls – Range: 1.33-1.70 – Max Gain: 28%
01/20 $20 Calls – Range: .94-1.22 – Max Gain: 30%

There is a gap on the TWTR chart that runs from roughly $21-24, and with a 01/20 expiration, we’ll continue to track these options, and if it appears the gap will begin to fill, roll up our strike prices accordingly.

Fresh Idea:

Wynn Resorts Ltd. WYNN – We’re looking for a possible recovery play for WYNN in the wake of a damning China UnionPay policy change that implements further restriction of the maximum daily allotment for ATM withdrawals in Macau. With 60% of WYNN’s revenue coming from Macau, the stock got hammered during yesterday’s session.

It appears as if some measure of a recovery will take effect this morning, with the stock gapping up in the premarket, so we’re going to be monitoring the WYNN Weekly $96-98.50 Calls for potential quick-strike trades.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Options Recaps, Recovery Play & More

Options Recaps

Our closing thoughts in Friday’s premarket report included some options ideas pertaining to our bullish feelings on AAPL and the SPY.

Specifically, we targeted SPY Weekly $193-194.50 Calls, and AAPL Weekly $115 and $116 Calls and included the following warning: “Trading options with a weekly expiration on a Friday carries an inherently elevated risk-reward factor, and is certainly not for the faint-of-heart, or beginning traders.” That would have been an important thing to remember, because the markets did pull back toward the end of the day, eventually rendering those contracts worthless, but not before opportunities for some big intraday gains were presented.

Early trading ranges in our SPY Calls rendered the chance at gains between 70-130% while the AAPL Calls did considerably better. The $115’s made a 293% move from .27-1.06, and the $116’s took the cake with a 520% surge from a nickel up to .31!

Heron Therapeutics, Inc. HRTX Puts

We also had some successful ideas going in the opposite direction; our bearish sentiment on HRTX paid some excellent dividends via the options chain last week, as we were mentioning on Friday. The stock continued to backslide into the close, reaching the $30-range with a daily low of 30.06. From our observed high of 42.25 at the time of our initial alert last Wednesday that’s roughly a 30% loss.

It will be interesting to see if this morning’s PR from HRTX affects the dynamics of the chart.

Clean Coal Technologies, Inc. CCTC

We also want to make another quick mention of CCTC, which has continually set new highs for us in the month of September.

We tracked the stock to some more nice gains last week, as it made a healthy intraday move of 21% from .72 to .87. That extends the total range we’ve observed following our initial alerts earlier this month from a low of .36 to Friday’s high; a total move of 142% in just two weeks’ time.

Totally Hemp Crazy, Inc. THCZ

We tagged this old familiar play on Friday for the first time since spring, and it turned out to be fortuitous timing as the stock made a noteworthy intraday jump.  THCZ traded from a low of .09 up as high as .1189, a 32% spike.

We’ll begin to pay closer attention to this and other cannabis-related stocks as election time draws nearer and the issue of marijuana is once again tested on ballots. We’ll be open to the possibility of new waves of attention for the sector as a whole, and be sure to keep our ear to the tracks for relevant developments.

Pier 1 Imports, Inc. PIR

A failure to beat Wall Street’s expectations on both guidance and earnings led PIR to gap down on Friday, though the dip wasn’t sustained. After seeing a low of 6.84 the stock did manage to recover quite a bit of ground into a 7.61 close. This transpired at a time when the chart was already fairly oversold, and that effect has been magnified as we point out on the chart snapshot below.

We’re going to have PIR on an extended-term recovery watch. A return to even the 50DMA would spell significant gains from the current juncture.
