Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Fresh PBR Options & More

Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) PBR – Recap

One of the ideas we had formulated toward the end of last week was the PBR Weekly $14 & 14.50 Calls. We mentioned in Friday morning’s premarket report that we expected the already solid gains we had seen the previous session to be expanded upon, and our assumption was accurate.

We saw epic new highs out of both of our tracked sets of contracts. The $14 Calls from our observed low of .21 on Thursday, saw a new high of .78 Friday for a two-day run of 271% The $14.50’s, which we had caught at a low of .05, ran to .29 for an impressive 480% move over the same span.

Updated Idea:
We’re going to update our idea to some weekly calls for this week and roll up our strike range. Provided PBR can hold its 50DMA of 14.32, we’ll be looking to the PBR Weekly $14.50-15.50 Calls.

Extended Watchlist Recaps:

We’ve been doing things the same way for several years now, issuing our daily ‘Extended Watchlist’ for ideas that don’t get featured, but are stil noteworthy enough to keep watch over. Two such plays that we’ve recently signaled came away from last week with some decent progress.

Epizyme, Inc. EPZM – EPZM was included in Friday’s extended watchlist and it had a very nice intraday push, helped along by solid jobs numbers which led to a good day for the markets as a whole. EPZM traded in a range from 6.40 up to 8.19, a solid 28% jump.

Scientific Games Corp. SGMS – On December 14th we included SGMS in our premarket report, and it has made steady and significant headway since that time, trading up from a low of 14.79 to a new high of 19.43 on Friday. A 31% move in a stock in this price range is a pretty darn good move through a few weeks of the holiday season.  We’ll continue to keep an eye on this, which has become a solid momentum mover.

GoPro, Inc. GPRO

We took advantage of the situation with GPRO yesterday after noticing the stock light up the boards in the premarket on the heels of a guidance adjustment.

We set our sights on the GPRO Weekly $9.50 & $10 Calls and both sets of contracts ended up providing traders with a chance at notable intraday gains.

The $9.50’s ran from .13-.90 for a whopping intraday pop of 592%, while the $10’s traded in a range from .47-1.20 for chances at up to 155% profit.

Insmed, Inc. INSM – Update

We’ve also got the pleasure of updating the figures on the options idea we put out on Tuesday after INSM had yet another solid session. The updated ranges on the contracts we selected are quite impressive, including a twelve-bagger, clearly demonstrating why we devote so much energy to options trading in addition to stocks!

The gains that were up for grabs to anyone who was paying attention were as follows:

$27 Calls
– Range: .95-4.50 – Max Gain: 373%
$28 Calls – Range:  .25-3.40 – Max Gain: 1260%
$29 Calls – Range: .40-2.75 – Max Gain: 588%
$30 Calls – Range: .50-2.12 – Max Gain: 324%

NewLink Genetics Corp. NLNK

We also had some very good fortune with our call of NLNK yesterday morning, which we caught notice of on our routine morning scan after some abnormal activity cropped up in the premarket.

Despite the fact that it went into the session as a $9+ stock, we still saw a really nice intraday push en route to NLNK going on the books as the NASDAQ’s top mover. We observed as the stock ran from a low of  9.50, traded up for essentially the entire session, and hit a high of 14.48 for a hefty 52% move on the day.

NLNK closed with strength, maintaining well over half its daily advance, so we’ll definitely want to continue to monitor the situation. No matter how you slice it, a single-session gain of 50% from a nearly ten-dollar stock, is nothing short of incredible.

Insmed, Inc. INSM – Options Review

We originally submitted our idea for the INSM options chain on Tuesday morning, tagging the INSM 09/15 $27-30 Calls on the heels of the company’s release of promising Phase-3 topline study results for its rare lung disease treatment.

Yesterday morning we updated our readers after the stock had made a marginal move which allowed for notable gains in just one of the four contracts in our observed range. However, we doubled down with our interest in these plays, mentioning that it seemed likely for the stock to provide a better chance at more sweeping gains and that’s just what happened.

The following moves were made yesterday afternoon which facilitated solid potential profits for anyone who was following along with the action. Those highly impressive gains were as follows:

$27 Calls – Range: .95-3.00 – Max Gain: 215%
$28 Calls – Range:  .25-2.00 – Max Gain: 700%
$29 Calls – Range: .40-1.60 – Max Gain: 300%
$30 Calls – Range: .50-1.55 – Max Gain: 210%

GoPro, Inc. GPRO – Weekly $9.50 & $10 Calls

Trivago N.V. TRVG – 10/20 $15 & 17.50 Calls

NXT-id, Inc. NXTD

We’re seeing a sizable gap-up taking place in the premarket this morning on NXTD. The big boost in activity is stemming from a huge news announcement published today concerning a deal the company struck with Bank of America to get its ‘FitPay’ contact-less device payment solutions installed in more than 9,000 Bank of America ATMs. (>>View PR)

With a blockbuster announcement such as this, we’re definitely going to want to observe the action as we head into week’s end and beyond.
