Retail Earnings Opportunities

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc. CBRL – Recap:

This morning we’re updating readers on the fresh options idea from yesterday. Just to give a heads up, this idea appeared in our report yesterday as Weekly calls, which was in error. The next expiration date on any existing CBRL options is June 18th, so we’re talking about the CBRL 06/18 $155-165 Calls.

Those fared quite well on the day despite three weeks remaining until their expiry. Here are the intraday gains they recorded:

CBRL 06/18 $155-165 Calls
$155: 4.40-6.68 (+52%)
$160: 2.45-4.40 (+80%)
$165: 1.25-2.40 (+92%)

Based on premarket activity this morning, it appears as if CBRL may be preparing to gap up, and as a result we may see further advances in these contract sets. We’re going to want to continue to monitor their activity into June 18th.

Winning Options Review:

As is typical for a Monday morning around here, we’ll kick off this fresh trading week by going over our winning ideas for Friday’s session from the day’s premarket report, before moving into what’s interesting to us today.

The top movers for the day began with our targets in the Deere & Co. chain, the DE Weekly $357.50-362.50 Calls which were pushed by a strong Q2 showing for the company. That was followed closely by our SPY targets, the SPY 05/21 $415-417 Calls which yielded their large intraday moves in an afternoon rebound.

Here are the very respectable gain opportunities that arose as we tracked these plays:

DE Weekly $357.50-362.50 Calls
$357.50: 4.50-12.75 (+183%)
$360: 2.74-11.00 (+301%)

Peloton Interactive, Inc. PTON – Options Ideas:

We are fairly dry on the earnings front today, but we did notice a solid technical setup on PTON, along with some insider buying last week. We’ll look to formulate a shorter and longer-term set of corresponding targets.

Things are going to be slim with regard to the daily number of earnings reporters to choose from for quick-strike trading ideas for the next 8 weeks, but we’ll strive to find other opportunities like these.

PTON Weekly $101-103 Calls
PTON 06/11 $105-107 Calls

Bonus Idea:
SPCE Weekly $24-25.50 Calls

Closing Out an Interesting Trading Week

Bearish Retail Targets Fall Despite General Uptrend:

With the state of the markets this week, we had remained primarily focused on bearish signals through to yesterday morning’s report. Even as stocks put forward an impressive rebound on Thursday, the majority of our tracked plays still produced.

Two of our three designated potential targets bucked the trend of the day, both giants in the retail space. The KSS Weekly $58-56.50 Puts and the RL Weekly $130-125 Puts logged very respectable intraday upswings, with four out of those six contract sets recording double-bag gains or better.

Here were those trend-bucking moves, and total potential daily gains for traders:

KSS Weekly $58-56.50 Puts
$58:
3.00-5.54 (+85%)
$57.50: 2.40-4.00 (+66%)
$57: 1.70-4.22 (+148%)
$56.50: 1.30-3.65 (+181%)
_____

RL Weekly $130-125 Puts
$130:
4.10-10.85 (+165%)
$125: 1.45-6.50 (+348%)

Fresh Options Ideas:

We’re going to flip back over to the other side of the fence this morning and designate some bullish options ideas for today. The scenario with the above mentioned short plays was the exception, not the rule. The typical key to our particular brand of quick-strike trading is to constantly keep your finger on the pulse of the markets and heed the prevailing winds.

BKE Weekly $40-42.50 Calls
DE Weekly $357.50-362.50 Calls
SPY 05/21 $415-417 Calls

Extended Watchlist:
ENKS, MLFB, IFUS, MINE, SUIC, COWI, TGRR, CZNI

More Bearish Options Plays
