Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Bottom-Play, Momentum Mover & More

Horsehead Holding Corp. ZINC

The first thing that jumped out at us during this morning’s routine scans was a stock we’d classify as a prime bottom-play opportunity.

Additionally, the company itself deals in sourcing zinc from recycled materials, so there’s the added variable of zinc prices being on the rise in recent weeks, to the tune of nearly a ten-cent swing.

As for the ZINC chart itself, we’ve highlighted below the various aspects that we find attractive for the stock’s short-term recovery prospects. It has been bouncing off of its annual lows, and is currently giving a strong impression of being oversold. We’ll be very interested to track the stock’s progress in coming sessions.

Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc. ASTI

ASTI is soaring in the premarket on the strength of an impressive Q4 earnings release, which demonstrated a 90% quarter-over-quarter increase in revenue.

We’re going to place the stock on watch for the possibility of an early dip caused by profit-takers, followed by a subsequent bounce.

We’ve had tremendous good fortune with this stock in the past, with our most recent call coming in September when we followed it from the .10-range all the way up to .30.

HydroPhi Technologies Group, Inc. HPTG

We also want to radar HPTG this morning, a familiar stock that we most recently discussed in December. It has strung together a few solid sessions, and is in the midst of forming a golden cross of the 50DMA over the 200DMA on the chart.

We’ll want to keep an eye peeled for the possibility of an extended uptrend here, where there is an established record of volatile swing activity.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Cleaning Up on Options Trading

Options Winners

We’ve been firing on all cylinders with regard to our short term options ideas recently. Yesterday we offered up some ideas for AAPL and BIIB and in both cases, multi-bag intraday returns were attainable no matter which set of contracts were chosen from our target ranges.

Apple, Inc. AAPL

We went bearish on AAPL for a number of reasons, chief among them being a disappointing earnings release, and negative statements by CEO Tim Cook. We were looking for activity in the range of the AAPL Weekly $97-95.50 Puts provided the stock continued to backslide, and were duly rewarded for the idea.

$97 Puts – Trading Range: 1.58-3.72  – Max Gain: 135%
$96.50 Puts – Trading Range: 1.27-3.27 – Max Gain: 157%
$96 Puts – Trading Range: 1.05-2.85 – Max Gain: 171%
$95.50 Puts – Trading Range: .83-2.45  – Max Gain: 195%
$95 Puts – Trading Range: .65-2.10 – Max Gain: 223%

Biogen, Inc. BIIB

On the other side of the fence, BIIB was gapping up hard in the premarket and we liked the chances of seeing some more upside. We highlighted BIIB Weekly $267.50 through $280 Calls and it worked out in spades.

$267.50 Calls – Trading Range: 6.30-17.50  – Max Gain: 178%
$270 Calls – Trading Range: 4.70-15.30 – Max Gain: 226%
$272.50 Calls – Trading Range: 3.45-12.30 – Max Gain: 257%
$275 Calls – Trading Range: 2.45-10.50  – Max Gain: 329%
$277.50 Calls – Trading Range: 1.74-8.45 – Max Gain: 386%
$280 Calls – Trading Range: .99-7.00 – Max Gain: 607%

Fresh Ideas*

Under Armour, Inc. UA – We’ll go ahead and signal some new options ideas this morning as the opportunity has presented itself in the form of an impressive Under Armour earnings beat. Wildly exceeded expectations are fueling a premarket gap-up, and we’re going to be taking a look at UA Weekly $75-79.50 Calls provided UA holds that $75-mark on any early dips.

Facebook, Inc. FB –  FB is also cruising in early trading today on the strength of a well-received earnings release of its own. We’re going to respond by tagging FB Weekly $105-110 Calls for observation as we head into week’s end.

*Pertaining to both of the preceding ideas, remember to always consider the inherent elevating risk associated with trading weekly options contracts as the end of the week approaches!

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: TPAC, TRTC Recaps & More

 TerraTech Corp. TRTC

TRTC is a stock we’ve been familiar with in the past that we re-alerted in yesterday’s premarket report, and the timing was excellent. The recent surge in this marijuana stock was catalyzed by Tuesday’s announcement that the company had acquired one of California’s highest-volume medical cannabis dispensaries (>>View PR)

Tuesday’s session brought a comparatively modest move before the news really had a chance to circulate, but the fact that the deal creates the first dispensary attached to a publicly-traded vehicle cause large outlets such as Forbes and TIME Money to post articles on TRTC toward the end of the day.

The buzz generated enabled us to swoop in with our premarket mention yesterday just in the nick of time to catch the stock’s run from a low of .1148 all the way .182 for a solid 59% intraday surge. The stock managed to hold at .1797 into the close and did so on over ten times the 3-month average volume, so we’ll definitely keep watch over the impending activity today.

Trans-Pacific Aerospace Co., Inc. TPAC

TPAC was a huge call for us yesterday morning as well producing a potential double-bagger for traders despite the fact that we had already tracked it to huge gains just recently.

We began mentioning TPAC midway through December, and around that time we’d observe the stock trading at a low of .0006. We continued to track it over a huge run-up which culminated in the mid-.006 range last week before the stock started to see some consolidation.

Yesterday morning’s re-alert was a result of our noticing TPAC rebounding off of a bottom on Tuesday, and the recovery continued as it ran from .0018-.0039 on the day. That goes down in the books as a 117% intraday surge from a stock that has now treated us to multiple swing-trade opportunities in recent weeks.

Ambient Water Corp. AWGI

Also coming off of yesterday’s watchlist with a respectable intraday performance was AWGI, which took off from a low of .0076 and reached .0109. That represents a nice intraday run of 43% and it came on massive volume of just over fifteen times the 3-month average.  That definitely raises AWGI to potential momentum-play status, so we’ll need to keep an eye peeled for further activity as things get going this morning.

Chatroom Reminder

We caught PVAH in yesterday’s live trader’s chatroom, and would have a chance to jump in as low .047 before it ran up to .083 for an intraday move over over 75% It’s definitely one that we will want to continue to watch for the establishment of higher base levels of support moving forward.

It also gives us a reason to remind our readers that participation in our daily trader’s chats which currently take place via Skype is as simple as sending a contact request to username ‘stocksumo‘. All of our loyal readers are most welcome to join in!
