Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Options Roundup & More

Options Roundup

We produced three sets of options ideas in yesterday morning’s premarket report, and considering our recent track record with options plays, it should come as no surprise that we hit on some big gainers with all of them.

Petroleo Brasiliero SA (Petrobras) PBR

We’ve successfully come up with winning options ideas for PBR on so many occasions, we’ve lost count at this point. Our targeted contracts yesterday were the Weekly $5 and $5.50 Calls, and both sets recorded solid moves on the day.

For the $5’s we saw a nice run from .42-.77, an intraday swing of 83%, while the $5.50 Calls doubled that performance with a 166% pop from .12-.32.

We mentioned that the idea could serve for swing trades into today, and it appears as if PBR’s gap up will extend the gains we’ve seen thus far, especially considering that oil is presently at its highest price in months. In addition to staying on top of those 5.50’s, we’ll explore the possibility of rolling up our strike price to the 6.00-level. We’ll just need to see the stock hold support at its previous resistance point of 5.72 on any early pullbacks.

__________

United Parcel Service, Inc. UPS

The next idea we came up with was to take a look at UPS April 8th $104 Calls, which we found attractive for a number of reasons that we listed in our report, and those contracts put up a top-notch performance as well.

They started out from a low of .47 and would end up hitting a daily high of 1.50; gains of up to 219% were there for the taking.

__________

SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc. SEAS

We were very interested in Seaworld’s PR concerning the halting of the Killer Whale breeding programs and theater show phase-out yesterday(>>View PR). The announcement was received well by the investing community, as well as the company seeing goodwill on social media for doing the right thing- at one point on Twitter, #Seaworld was trending in the Top 3 for the US in the wake of the news.

We set our sights on SEAS April 15th $18 Calls, and were met with an excellent intraday gain opportunity as they ran 150% from .40-1.00.

Sparta Commercial Services, Inc. SRCO

We also want to give ourselves a pat on the back for SRCO, which we included in yesterday’s extended watchlist. The stock made a respectable intraday move for us, to the tune of 60% as it traded in a range from .003-.0048 on roughly six times the 3-month average volume.

Bank of America Corp. BAC – Fresh Options Idea

BAC is currently gapping up in the premarket on news that the company will be increasing the scope of their share buyback program, and we’re going to signal a set of options contracts for observation to correspond with that. We’re going to be taking a look at BAC Weekly $13.50 Calls for a possible daytrade*.

*Don’t forget, trading weekly options contracts on a Friday is a very risky proposition, and is recommended for seasoned traders only.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Fresh Options Ideas & More

Fresh Options Ideas

We’ve formulated a few new angles of approach with respect to options ideas that we’re going to share this morning, each with its own specific reason for appearing attractive at the present time.

United Parcel Service, Inc. UPS

We’re going to be taking a look at a range of medium-term UPS contracts, namely the April 8th $104 Calls, which we feel have a good chance at performing well in coming weeks on account of a number of factors.

The shipping sector as a whole is currently doing well due to boosted online sales, as top competitor FedEx’s reported earnings yesterday certainly reflected. We also like the look of the UPS chart from a technical perspective, as the following annotations demonstrate:

We also learned this week that the company is going to be increasing the size of its CNG (compressed natural gas) powered fleet, including an infrastructure build-out of several new CNG stations to support it. (>> VIEW PR)

SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc. SEAS

We also are going to be monitoring a range of Seaworld options, once again due to a fresh news release, as well as an attractive chart setup. As you can see on the provided snapshot, SEAS is showing a multiple bottom formation, and if it can continue to rebound off of its recent relative lows, appears to have a shot at a nice rebound over the next few weeks if history is any indicator.

We’re going to be watching the SEAS April 15th $18 Calls, which last traded at .16. If SEAS can rebound to the upper $19 range by that expiration date, the gains on these contracts could realistically approach ten-bagger territory.

SeaWorld, which has been under fire for years over their Killer Whale shows, has just announced that it will immediately cease its orca breeding programs, beginning a phase-out of the theatrical dog-and-pony-style performances and shift toward more natural displays. (>>View PR)

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Bottom Watchlist, Options Idea & More

Cannabis Sativa, Inc. CBDS

CBDS was part of our cannabis stock watchlist yesterday, and even as the majority of the sector was seen to be fading, CBDS bucked the trend and produced an excellent intraday opportunity.

We watched as the stock took off like a rocket right at the opening bell from a low of 1.26, and didn’t stop until hitting its 2.45 high-of-day shortly before 11’clock. That works out to a 94% swing and it came on immense volume, to the tune of 23X the 3-month average.

Cheers go out to any of our readers who caught a piece of the action on CBDS, which was the first in a trio of selections from yesterday’s premarket report to produce respectable intraday performances.

Cardinal Resources, Inc. CDNL

Next in line was CDNL, which is a stock that we’ve referenced in our reports on numerous occasions over the past several months. This subpenny runner turned in an intraday rip of 77% as it ran from .0047-.0083 on a little more than twice the average trading volume, and managed to hold the majority of its daily advance into the close at .0074.

It marked the second consecutive big day for the stock trending off of its lowest prices in roughly six months, so we’ll certainly want to continue tracking its activity, watching for it to record higher highs and higher lows in coming sessions.

Celator Pharmaceuticals, Inc. CPXX

We caught CPXX yesterday on the heels of an attention-grabbing PR (link below) which hit wires post-market on Monday afternoon, relating to encouraging results from a late-stage clinical trial. Despite already being up close to 300%, we still felt it warranted a tag in our watchlist, and we weren’t disappointed.

As is often the case in such circumstances, we saw a dip-and-rip unfold early, after which time the stock ran from a low of 6.44 to 9.10, for a solid 41% swing on absolutely massive volume.

Bottom-Watchlist

We’re going to designate the following stocks as bottom-watch plays and reserve a spot on our watchlist for each of them over the next several sessions:

Pernix Therapeutics Holdings, Inc.  PTX
Sunesis Pharmaceuticals, Inc  SNSS
Peak Resorts, Inc.  SKIS
Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide Inc.  QTWW

Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. CMG –  Options Idea

We want to throw in a quick options idea this morning as well, and it’s going to come in the form of a short. Specifically, we’re going to be looking at the CMG Weekly $485-475 Puts.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: GWPH, GRNH Updates & More

GW Pharmaceuticals, Inc. GWPH

Yesterday morning, we suggested our readers pay attention to the activity in GWPH, which had just published a blockbuster PR regarding top-line success in a late-stage trial of a cannabis-derived treatment (>>View PR).

The breakthrough nature of the study caught many people’s eyes, and throughout the course of the day’s news cycle, the story got significant national attention from multiple media outlets.

As we’d mentioned in our premarket report yesterday, we were going to do some cherry-picking, waiting for the gap-up to lead to an early dip (which it did), and then track in-the-money calls. To give an idea of the sort of scenario that was possible, the GWPH $75 Calls ran from 7.70-16.70 (+116%)

We’ll continue monitoring in-the-money calls in the $75-85 range, and if GWPH appears to want to break $90, consider rolling our strike price up to that level.

GreenGro Technologies, Inc. GRNH

The national attention cast upon GW Pharma also brought some nice activity into other cannabis-related plays, and GRNH was one of them. We’ve got an established history of tracking this stock that stretches back for years. A search of our archive shows that this morning marks the 35th occasion on which we’ve mentioned the stock.

The most recent of those mentions came this past Wednesday, when we tagged it in our morning watchlist, after which time we observed a low of .02.

Yesterday, the stock rode the wave of attention for the sector to an impressive 62% rip as it ran from .0215-.0349. It also marked a total swing of 74% over the low we witnessed last week.

Added Note: We prepared a list of some other marijuana stocks to monitor more closely in the light of heightened investor awareness of the sector:  CANV, CBDS, CANN, CNBX

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Options Review, Other Updates

Options Review

Just to refresh our readers’ memories, we highlighted a range of call contracts for three separate plays on Friday, and we’re pleased to report that sizable gains were there for the taking regardless of which idea was chosen. It marked the continuation of a flawless streak of such ideas that we offered up over the past few weeks.

Our tracked calls and the magnitude of the gains that were available were as follows:

SPDR S&P 500 (SPY) Weekly $199-202 Calls – We’ve successfully played the SPY so many times it doesn’t even bear counting, and Friday was no different. From the low end of our range to the high, gains of 80-427% were made.

Finisar Corp FNSR Weekly $15 and $16 Calls – An earnings beat made the gains in FNSR calls possible, with the $15’s running 88%, and the $16’s making a 92% upswing.

Ulta Salon, Cosmetics & Fragrance, Inc. ULTA  Weekly $175-185 Calls –  Last but not least, we had the ULTA contracts on our watchlist bank gains running from 59-117%

Again, it was yet another great week for options, and we’ll be doing everything in our power to keep the streak alive with some more ideas this week so be sure to stay tuned!

Friday’s Stock Gainers

In addition to our great success with options plays from Friday’s morning report, we had a number of other intraday movers which were also highlighted.

Propanc Health Group Corp. PPCH

This was our top-billed mention on Friday, having been following it for most of last week. A string of solid performances led the stock on a great intraweek run to that point which spanned from our observed low of .0188 to .037 (+97%) in just a few sessions.

We saw even more gains tacked on there during Friday’s trading, wherein we witnessed another nice intraday pop from the daily low of .0355 to .0516 (+45%), and the high extended our total observed range to an impressive 174% in a matter of four sessions.

_____

Mexus Gold US (MXSG)

Mexus was another point of discussion in Friday’s newsletter, and it too saw appreciable gains on the day.

We’d already been very familiar with the stock after tracking over a more than 1000% move in early February. We then re-tagged it the Wednesday before last and subsequently witnessed a 61% swing from .011-.018.

Friday’s session brought a continuation of that run from .017 to a high of .0299, a 71% intraday rip, and increased the total swing range to 172%

_____

Spectrascience, Inc. SCIE

SCIE was included in Friday’s tracklist and the stock would end up trading in a range from .003 to .0047, for total possible intraday gains of up to 56% on slightly heavier than normal volume.

It also managed to close just a tick below the high of day, so we’ll keep an eye peeled for the possibility of momentum spillover into this new trading week.

GW Pharmaceuticals, Inc. GWPH

We want to pin GWPH to our tracklist after catching a significant PR coming across the wires this morning. Late-stage studies on a cannabidiol (CBD) treatment of a rare pediatric disease has yielded positive results, and the stock has thus far gapped up over 100% in the premarket.

We’ll take our classic stance of monitoring for a possible dip-and-rip situation and look to get positioned in some in-the-money Calls, dependent upon where the bounce occurs.
