4-Pack of Options Ideas

NIO, Inc. NIO

We tagged NIO for obserrvation to start the week on Monday, and it did end up making a notable run following that report. We saw a low of 10.70, and yesterday it hit a high of 15.28. That marks a three-session swing of 43% which we would consider decent volatility for a $10+ stock.

NIO did taper back into the close, but we will continue to monitor its activity. If it can continue to register higher lows, we won’t yet consider its run finished.

Fresh Options Ideas:

We were in an earnings dry spell for a few weeks there, but slowly we’re beginning to see more big names coming across the calendar. This morning for earnings ideas we’ve got our sights set on a bullish and one bearish target.

On Helen of Troy Ltd. HELE, which posted a solid beat, we’re going to focus on the HELE 07/17 $210-220 Calls.

Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. WBA didn’t fare as well in the last quarter as was expected of it, and we’re feeling like a short in this case might be the way to go, so we’ll tag the WBA Weekly $42-40.50 Puts.

NVAX Update & More

Novavax, Inc. NVAX – Review
.
Among all of the plays we’ve covered this year with coronavirus synergies, one of the top picks has definitely been NVAX. We began tracking this stock back in May, with our first mention coming on May 12th. On that day, NVAX changed hands for as little as 36.08. The stock basically never looked back, with that being the lowest price it will have seen since then.

Yesterday, after roughly seven weeks of continuous upward momentum, NVAX has attained a new high of 111.77. That works out to an overall rise of 210% in a span of less than two months! That’s a good move for any stock, but for one that was already above $35, it’s nothing short of amazing.

Options Ideas:

We have been in a dark period for big name earnings for at least a couple of weeks now, but we are starting to see some large caps reporting again today. The two that are catching our eye most off of the current calendar are SMART Global Holdings, Inc. SGH and The Simply Good Foods Co. SMPL. Both companies posted a convincing beat of expectations on the street.

Here are a couple of corresponding ideas that we can track today and into next week:

SGH 07/17 $25-30 Calls
SMPL 07/17 $22.50-25 Calls

Extended Watchlist:
DLOC, IGEN, HDII, COPRF, AEPT, CLR

BLNK, TPTW Recaps, Options Idea

Blink Charging Co. BLNK

Yesterday morning in our extended watchlist, we tagged BLNK for observation. The stock had been making a rapid climb over the last week, and appeared set for further increases. What we ended up with, was the biggest single session gain it has managed in well over a year.

BLNK traded up from a low of 6.10, and reached a daily high of 8.50, which represents a gain of 39% and it closed with strength 8.40. Despite the fact that the stock is gapping down this morning, further continuation of momentum is not out of the question here.

TPT Global Tech, Inc. TPTW

We highlighted TPTW for tracking exactly a week ago on the morning of the 30th, at which time the stock was trading for as little as .0235 per share. The company had just announced  it had completed what it believes is a first, with a mobile turnkey coronavirus testing solution it calls Quiklab.

The stock has since put on some pretty nice gains, reaching a high of .0454 yesterday, which marks a one week upswing of 93%

Recent Performers

S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) – Recap

Our main winner from Friday morning’s premarket report was our idea for the SPY. The markets saw an early rip out of the gate before pulling back, running once again, and eventually tapering off into the close.

As a result of the activity we observed, our designated contract sets experienced two separate and significant surges on the day. Here are the total possible gains afforded by the moves that occurred:

SPY 07/02 $313-314 Calls
$313: 1.88-4.22 (+47%) | .67-1.55 (+47%)
$314: 1.28-2.10 (+49%) | .36-.77 (+47%)

Other Recent Winners:

Plug Power Inc. PLUG – We also want to begin this fresh trading week by re-highlighting PLUG, which we most recently talked about on June 24th. Subsequent to that report, the stock traded for as little as 6.91 a share, and on Friday the stock attained a new high of 9.65. This morning in the premarket we’ve seen shares change hands for 10.09.

That puts our total observed increase on PLUG in under two weeks at a respectable 46% and warrants further attention going forward.
____

Overstock.com Inc. OSTK – Another recent performer we’ve been hot on the trail of is OSTK, which we mentioned quite a bit back in May. Since then, OSTK has done little else other than climb its way to new highs week after week.

When we first alerted on OSTK it was trading at 15.45, and to close out the short week on Thursday, the stock had hit 39.38. That works out to a 2-month upswing of 155%

Options Recaps

Most of our luck with the options calls we made this week was good, with very few exceptions. We’re going to wrap up this short trading week by highlighted both of the fresh sets of ideas we formulated in yesterday morning’s premarket report.

We had signaled interest in the FDX 07/02 $149-155 Calls as well as the STZ 07/02 $175-180 Calls and in both cases we saw some really nice intraday movement:

FDX 07/02 $149-155 Calls
$149:
 9.93-14.60 (+47%)
$150: 9.21-13.75 (+49%)
$152.50: 7.21-11.27 (+56%)
$155: 5.09-9.35 (+84%)
_____

STZ 07/02 $175-180 Calls
$175: 6.90-16.60 (+141%)
$177.50: 5.89-12.50 (+112%)
$180: 3.20-9.90 (+209%)

Fresh Options Ideas:

We’ll close the week out with a wide range of ideas to follow, with both near and extended term expirations. For more quick strike opportunities we would first look to earnings play LNN, and to the SPY, with the markets ripping in early trading. For a longer-term track we have AVA and NWN, a couple of bottom-bouncers that are looking technically ripe for more prolonged increases.

LNN 07/17 $95-100 Calls
SPY 07/02 $313-314 Calls
AVA 09/20 $40-45 Calls
NWN 09/20 $ 60-65 Calls
