Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Happy New Year!

Huge Winners from Friday

We highlighted multiple options ideas on Friday, and are pleased to report that we found major success across the board. Despite closing flat, the markets as a whole produced an intraday run which was sufficient to push everything on our radar to huge gains. It was a great way to close out 2018 with a bang, especially considering the poor trajectory we were on just a few sessions prior.

SPDR S&P500 ETF (SPY) – For the SPY we formulated two sets of ideas, one for calls and one for puts, and because of the market, both ideas were hugely successful. They were the  SPY Weekly $248-249.50 Calls, and the SPY Weekly $251-250 Puts. For the Calls, the crux of the gains came in the 2 o’clock hour, while the heaviest moves for the Puts came at Power Hour.

$248 Calls – Range: .84-3.47 – Max Gain: 313%
$248.50 Calls – Range: .64-2.80 – Max Gain: 338%
$249 Calls – Range: .50-2.50 – Max Gain: 400%
$249.50 Calls – Range: .40-2.05 – Max Gain: 410%

$251 Puts – Range: .81-3.81 – Max Gain: 370%
$250.50 Puts – Range: .62-3.21 – Max Gain: 418%
$250 Puts – Range: .43-3.02 – Max Gain: 602%
_______

Tesla, Inc. TSLA

We also had a range of TSLA Calls lined up on Friday, and those all fared extremely well also. The gains were even more impressive than those of the SPY, with a five, a six, and an eight-bagger in the mix!

$322.50 Calls – Range: 2.14-13.50 – Max Gain: 531%
$325 Calls – Range: 1.39-11.05– Max Gain: 636%
$327.50 Calls – Range: .90-8.80 – Max Gain: 878%

Despite the last few weeks of horrid market conditions, 2018 as a whole was another great year for us, and it was nice to finish it on a similar high note. We appreciate every single one of our readers, and will strive to continue serving you well, as we head into Blue Horseshoe Stocks’ ninth calendar year! Blue Horseshoe Stocks: RKDA Explodes & More

Arcadia Biosciences, Inc. RKDA

We originally put RKDA on our radars toward the end of January, but in the ensuing weeks, the stock mainly traded sideways.

This week, both Tuesday morning and yesterday, we included it on our watchlist once again as we noticed it was finally building up some momentum. Yesterday that momentum turned into an absolute explosion as RKDA blasted off to an astounding new high.

Just since Tuesday morning it has traded from a low of 11.17 to a new high of 54.9895 yesterday. That’s a two day swing of 370% and a mind numbing increase of 1244% over the 4.09 low we observed subsequent to our initial mention!

Valeant Pharma International, Inc. VRX

On Monday morning, we tagged the VRX Weekly $15 & $15.50 Calls, and after finding success with those as VRX continued to move, yesterday we expanded our target range to include the $16 and $16.50’s  as well. After another bullish session, all of those ideas produced opportunities for big gains.

The $15’s from our observed low on Monday of .65, hit 2.21 for a gain of 240%, while the $15.50’s, from .30 reached 1.73, an increase of 477%

The $16 Calls ran from .35-1.24, for a single sessions rip of 254% and the $16.50’s traded in a range from .13 to .75, a 477% upswing.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: XXII Update & More

22nd Century Group, Inc. XXII

It was back on November 7th that we highlighted a large group of cannabis stocks, and professed our unyielding interest in the space as a whole. XXII was among those that we specifically highlighted as promising pot stocks in that report, and despite it being more than 8 weeks later, the stock has continually bulled its ways to new highs ever since.

We wanted to swing back around this morning to outline the excellent run it has been on since November. Subsequent to our report on the 7th the stock saw an absolute bottom of 2.00 even before beginning its months-long ascent. Yesterday the stock reached yet another new high of 3.85, marking an overall upswing of 93%

Yield10 Bioscience, Inc. YTEN

Following a huge single session run in early December, YTEN was unable to hold onto any of the ground it had gained, and with the ‘help’ of a massive public offering, continued to descend until recently.

This week, the stock has begun to show signs of a bottom bounce, and we’re going to want to add it to the radar on a recovery watch. As you can see form the chart snapshot included below, there is a lot of room for a potential surge, including a gap to fill to the upside.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Cannabis Commentary & More

NeoPhotonics Corp. NPTN

We’re always bargain hunting for stocks that have been recently beaten back to what appear to be unsustainably low levels, and we’re observing one heck of a double bottom setup on NPTN at the present time.

Twice now the stock has touched and rebounded off of the mid-$4 range, with the annual low coming in at 4.56. We’re going to want to place NPTN on watch in sessions to come and look for the stock to establish higher levels of support.

Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. VRX

It’s been awhile since we had a look at VRX, and as it turns out, this is another stock that looks ready to start a trend off of a recent relative low.

VRX is gapping up considerably into the $14-range this morning on the heels of a solid earnings beat. We’re going to signal a range of options contracts to watch for some possible dip-and-rip activity. This is just the type of setup we routinely look for, and we’ll be tracking the VRX Weekly $13-14 Calls for the remainder of the week.

Cannabis Commentary

It has been a slow year in general for many domestic cannabis stocks, due, at least in part, to a DOJ led by outspoken marijuana opponent Jeff Sessions. It has created an environment of uncertainty pertaining to the federal government’s likelihood of creating problems for marijuana businesses, even in states where voters have officially spoken and legalized the plant. The marijuana movement is here to stay, but at present, is dealing with this roadblock of sorts.

That doesn’t mean our interest in the sector has diminished. In fact, we’re as exuberant about the future of the cannabis industry as we ever were. North of the Border, Canadians will enact a nationwide end to prohibition just 8 months from now.

The World Anti-Doping Agency, which was formed by the International Olympic Committee to police the use of performance enhancing drugs in athletics, also recently removed Cannabidiol (CBD) from its list of banned substances, opening up a huge market for the hemp-derived product.

Here are just a few of the cannabis plays that we track on a regular basis, and will continue to do so as we head into 2018, which we feel is going to be a big year for the industry and all of its subsectors. Maybe the biggest one yet!

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Momentum Plays & More

 Possible Momentum Plays

We’re looking at a pair of stocks this morning that have broken out, and that we’d like to monitor on the chance that they produce sustained uptrends.

Leading Brands, Inc. LBIX – This was a fairly illiquid stock until just recently, when it broke out of a mundane pattern of low volatility and began a run into blue skies which lasted from Tuesday through Friday. We’ll stay wary of the possibility for course corrections, but a dip-and-rip scenario could definitely come into play here in coming sessions. The volatility has ramped up in a huge way, which is what we always look out for as swing traders.
______

22nd Century Group Inc. XXII – In the case of XXII, the stock has traded in a fairly predictable pattern over the past few months, during which time it has formed a solid upward channel. The company also recently closed a $54M direct offering at 2.65/share. We’ll look for this one to continue to build, keeping an eye on it as we kick off a new trading week.

Walt Disney Co. DIS – Options Ideas

We also want to signal a couple of options ideas for Disney, which has a pretty nice bottom setup on the chart, trading near its lowest per-share pricing since December.

For a near-term idea, we’re going to be looking at the DIS Weekly $96-98 Calls and the DIS 11/24 $98-99 Calls in the event of an extended recovery, which seems due at any time now.
