Going Bearish on Earnings Reporters

Options Review:

We’ve been back on our Midas Touch options trading business over the last several sessions, and yesterday morning was no different. We were just patting ourselves on the back for 100% accuracy on the previous session’s bangers, and we managed to do it again to start this holiday-shortened week.

We signaled ranges on a couple of plays, highlighting the SPY 11/22 $469-470 Calls, as well as going short on the CRNC 12/17 $105-95 Puts. Both turned out to be excellent notions, and the board was fully green for yet another day. The end of this week will be rather subdued, with a day off for Thanksgiving and just a half trading day for Black Friday, so it’s good we’re getting these in now.

Here are the total possible profits that could have been banked off of yesterday’s targets:

SPY 11/22 $469-470 Calls
$469:
 1.99-4.50 (+126%)
$470: .62-2.40 (+287%)
_____

$105: 15.00-22.46 (+50%)
$100: 9.70-18.20 (+88%)
$95: 6.00-13.49 (+125%)

Clean Sweep on Daily Options Ideas:

It’s a simple truth that no one can be right on every hunch every time, so when we formulate a large group of quick-strike ideas, it’s always nice when we can hit on each and every play.

Retail Earnings Opportunities

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc. CBRL – Recap:

This morning we’re updating readers on the fresh options idea from yesterday. Just to give a heads up, this idea appeared in our report yesterday as Weekly calls, which was in error. The next expiration date on any existing CBRL options is June 18th, so we’re talking about the CBRL 06/18 $155-165 Calls.

Those fared quite well on the day despite three weeks remaining until their expiry. Here are the intraday gains they recorded:

CBRL 06/18 $155-165 Calls
$155: 4.40-6.68 (+52%)
$160: 2.45-4.40 (+80%)
$165: 1.25-2.40 (+92%)

Based on premarket activity this morning, it appears as if CBRL may be preparing to gap up, and as a result we may see further advances in these contract sets. We’re going to want to continue to monitor their activity into June 18th.

Fresh Options Ideas:

Despite a general decrease in the number of daily earnings reporters, we’ve got a fair few retail giants dropping figures this morning, and we’ll venture a target for the SPY as well.

URBN Weekly $37-39 Calls
ANF Weekly $39-40.50 Calls
DKS Weekly $88-91 Calls

Urban Outfitters, Inc. URBN – Options Rehash

We offered up an options idea for the URBN chain yesterday morning, and we’re happy to report that it resulted in some really solid single session gain opportunities coming into play.

There were quite a few pundits claiming that URBN was due for some consolidation or sideways trading, but we felt good about the company’s earnings beat, including rising same store sales. It turns out we were the one who were correct. Just take a look at the profits that were on the table for our ideas during yesterday’s session.

Deere & Co. DE Weekly $143-146 Calls

Xunlei Ltd. XNET

Yesterday, we were just rehashing our timely alert from earlier this month, when we tagged XNET shortly after which time, we observed the stock trading for as little as 8.14 a share.  In what has been a solid month of November for this play, the gains it piled on quickly surged into multibag territory, and yesterday, the stock continued its very impressive climb by once again hitting new annual highs.

XNET reached 24.29 during yesterday’s session, which represents a significant extension to the gains we’ve witnessed thus far. From our observed low of 8.14, the new high marked an increase of 198% in just the last few weeks. Volume was also at its highest level of 2017, so we’re very interested to see how the rest of this scenario plays out.

XNET recently made it known that it was going to focus on blockchain tech, which is a large part of the reason why the stock has been running like a scalded cat. The crypto space has been the talk of the town for some time now, and as you can see, it’s really given this one a push.
