Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Pharma Watchlist & More

Actinium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. ATNM

We want to start things off this morning by taking a look at ATNM, for a couple of reasons. First, from a technical standpoint, the chart appears to be coming off of a relative bottom, and a number of indicators suggest that a sizable upswing could occur in coming sessions.

Those include a MACD and Histogram that look to be gearing up for a possible cross into bullish territory. Each of the past two times that occurred, the stock saw an appreciable move to the upside. The RSI also looks to be coming off of being oversold- we’ll be looking for a break of that 50-line, and the registering of higher lows and higher highs as ATNM attempts to establish a continued trend off of its recent lows.

The other factor that is indirectly drawing us to ATNM is the fact that it operates in the Pharma sector, which is sure to be at the forefront of the news with a couple of huge buyouts. Pfizer has bought Anacor (ANAC) and Luminex bought Nanosphere (NSPH). Whenever we see groundbreaking events happening in biopharma, there tends to be a rise in overall activity for the industry.

That’s why, in addition to ATNM, we’ll be placing the following couple of stocks on watch as we kick off another trading week: Inovio Biomedical, Inc. INO, and Sorrento Therapeutics, Inc. SRNE

3D Systems Corp. DDD

After an impressive run-up on the chart which lasted from January to April, DDD has taken a pretty substantial pounding in the month of May.

The stock came down to bounce off of its 200DMA on Thursday, and recorded higher highs and higher lows on Friday. We’ll look for a continuation of that trend into today, and monitor DDD for a possible recovery. We will need to see the stock hold support at or above the current 200DMA of 11.73 on any pullbacks in order for it to hold our interest. A return to its PPS levels from the end of April from this juncture would produce potential gains of at least 50%

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Fresh Options Ideas & More

Horizon Pharma plc  HZNP

Good morning traders! We’re back to kick off another trading week, and we’re going to start off by taking a look at an early mover in HZNP. The stock is gapping up moderately on the tail of a mixed-result earnings release, as a well as the announcement of a 5M share repurchase program.

We’re interested in signaling a pair of options contracts in the HZNP chain for observation, should the bullish sentiment we’re seeing here in the premarket boil over into the session.

Our targets are going to start out as the HZNP Weekly $14 and 15 Calls. Key resistance is currently sitting at the 50DMA of 16.15. In the event that HZNP were to test and breach that boundary, we’d look to roll up our strike price to the $16’s.

Yelp, Inc. YELP

YELP was included in our watchlist on Friday, and the stock produced a bullish performance on the day. We observed a 13% rise on the day from a low of 23.66 to a high of 26.75. That’s a respectable single-session move out of a stock in this price range.

Moving forward, we’ll be watching closely for YELP to maintain support above its current 200DMA of 23.55. That will act as our deciding point on the chart. Should the stock hold above that level on any pullbacks, we’ll look for possible swing-trade opportunities in YELP Weekly $24-27 Calls. Failure to hold that price point would signal us to flip to the bullish side and the $27-24 Puts.

Square, Inc. SQ

We also want to put SQ on a bottom-watch this morning after a post-market earnings call on Thursday precipitated quite a bit of fallout during Friday’s session. Despite a boosted outlook for the remainder of 2016 and big-time growth compared to the same quarter last year, SQ was absolutely hammered.

That makes it fair game for a potential rebound in coming sessions, so we’ll have it on our radar for that possibility. If it appears that a recovery is imminent, we’ll look to use in-the-money calls to leverage some nice gains out of this play.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: XGTI Review & More

xG Technology, Inc. XGTI

We’ve seen XGTI make its way up nicely from a low of .08 subsequent to our tag of the stock late last month, but despite it already being up considerably, we reinforced our bullish opinion of it in yesterday morning’s premarket report.

The momentum we’d observed was sufficient to surmise that further opportunities could be in the cards, and our assumption was accurate indeed. We saw a strong move out of XGTI to begin the session as it traded in its full daily range from an early low of .1021 on up to a new high of .165 for an initial rip of 62%

Midday saw a pullback in the stock, which ultimately found support at .1217 before returning to .155, an added 27% swing, so there was a good chance for late-comers as well. It brought the cumulative total on northward movement for the day to a respectable 89%

Pernix Therapeutics Holdings, Inc. PTX

PTX is another one we’ve tracked in the past which we re-alerted this week on the heels of a newly-registered 52-week low on Friday. The stock made a nice move on Monday, and continued its ascent yesterday.

We witnessed a trading range from .98-1.25 which works out to a solid 28% upswing on the day, and it came on more than eight times the 3-month average volume.

Cerebain Biotech, Inc. CBBT

We tagged CBBT based on observing some abnormal volume on Monday, and despite sliding for the first half of the day, the stock did register a higher low and higher high from the session prior en route to a nice intraday swing. It traded from .53-.86, making a 62% pop and closing with strength at .85.

The company also announced yesterday that it would apply for FDA approval on its medical device which is meant to treat alzheimer’s and dementia sufferers, so that will be one storyline to continue following. (>>Read PR)

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: SPOM, SRPT Recaps & More

Winning Pick Review

SPO Global, Inc. SPOM
is a subpenny play that appeared in yesterday morning’s premarket report, and we got some good action out of the stock on our first day of tracking. We witnessed a run from .0042-.0058, which marked a respectable 38% pop on more than triple its monthly average trading volume.

Sarepta Therapeutics, Inc. SRPT – We began talking about SRPT last Wednesday, and cleaned up with a couple of ideas we had for trading weekly options contracts. We tagged it once again in yesterday’s watchlist, and the stock went on to set a new high. It traded in an intraday range from 14.52-18.14 for a 25% gain on the day. The stock is gapping up morning. From our observed low on Wednesday at 10.45, today’s high of 18.80 represents a 80% swing overall.

xG Technology, Inc. XGTI

We’ve tracked this stock in the past, most recently mentioning it in our report on 04/21. It took a few sessions beyond that to see the stock find support at .08, but we’ve seen it inch its way up since, and this morning we witnessed a premarket high of .1751 in the stock.

It marks an upswing of 150% over our observed low, and signals us to pay careful attention in coming sessions.

Pernix Therapeutics Holdings, Inc. PTX

PTX is another stock catching our interest after we noticed some abnormal activity on the heels of a large investor boosting his stake in the company while it had simultaneously reached a new 52-week low.

The stock is moving again in the premarket, and will be another worthy candidate for our watchlist as we head into midweek.

The last time one of our tracked plays caught momentum off of a large institutional investor taking up a big position was VLTC. Some of our more seasoned followers will surely remember that stock and the astronomical moves it made in such a situation.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Options Update, New Idea & More

Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. VRX-  Options Update

We wanted to circle back to touch upon an update for the VRX 04/22 $32 Calls we initially slated for observation on Tuesday.  VRX trading activity allowed for us to witness a run from 2.90-3.90 that day, for possible gains of up to 35%

We stated as much in yesterday’s morning report, with the added reminder that we felt certain the scope of those gains would increase, and we were spot-on once again.

For the day we observed a move from 4.25-5.25, a relatively modest 24%, however as measured from the low we saw on Tuesday morning, it marked a two-day swing of 81%, so cheers to those of our readers who were following along with us on this play!

Tesla Motors, Inc. TSLA – New Options Idea

Up until yesterday’s session, TSLA had been enjoying an epic rally which began in early February, however, that began to fizzle out over the past couple of days. The stock now appears very top-heavy, and that was confirmed by a fall below its 200DMA yesterday.

In the event that this is a protracted backsliding event, we’re going to want to be ready with a corresponding options trading idea.  We’re going to zero in on contracts in the range of TSLA March 24th $220-215 Puts, which qualify as Weekly contracts*, as the markets are closed tomorrow.

*Please remember, trading weekly options contracts on a Friday is an extreme high risk/high reward proposition, and is recommended for highly experienced traders only.

Celator Pharmaceuticals, Inc. CPXX

CPXX was a point of focus for us last Wednesday, when we caught a hot PR hitting the wires, and despite the stock already being up considerably at that point, we were able to glean a healthy 41% gain out of the stock that first day (from a low of 6.44).

As we’ve kept observing the play over the course of the week, we’ve seen a continual stream of higher highs and higher lows, which culminated in a new high of 12.64 yesterday. In exactly one week’s time, we saw CPXX make an overall swing totaling 96%

Great Basin Scientific, Inc. GBSN

We also want to give ourselves a quick pat on the back for calling GBSN to our readers attention via our extended watchlist yesterday. The stock was experiencing highly abnormal activity due to some FDA News and despite gapping up to the extreme, we still saw a dip-and-rip which carried the stock on an intraday run from .222-.29, a 31% swing.
