Solid Stock Calls

These days, our content is typically centered on short-term options trading, but we still provide a healthy mix in the for of stock ideas as well, whether in featured mentions or our daily extended watchlists. We’ve got a couple of updates on such calls this morning.

GrubHub, Inc. GRUB –  We placed GRUB on watch roughly seven weeks ago in our report from the morning of November 15th, and since then the stock has trended upward for nearly the entire time.

It saw its low of 38.58 on the same morning of our alert, and yesterday, hit a new high of 57.80. That’s a very respectable increase of 50% which we consider to be an excellent run for a stock in this price range over a period of less than two months.
_____

Dermira, Inc. DERM – It was just shy of a month ago on December 10th that we tagged DERM, and it too has taken off since we put it on our radar. That day it registered a low of 9.56 and hasn’t looked back since, running up to a new high of 19.30 yesterday. That works out to a rise of 102% over our observed low in less than a month!

Constellation Brands, Inc. STZ

We submitted an options idea for the STZ chain as the company dropped its earnings report yesterday, and met with eye-popping performances right away. We had signaled the STZ Weekly $187.50-192.50 Calls, and got some incredible intraday results

STZ Weekly $187.50-192.50 Calls
$187.50: .75-6.20 (+727%)
$190: .40-3.97 (+892%)
$192.50: .25-2.30 (+820%)

______

Canopy Growth Corp. CGC – We also placed the CGC Weekly $19-19.50 Calls on watch yesterday morning as a fresh idea to start the trading off with, and we’re pleased to relay the multi-bag intraday performances out of that pair of contracts. The $19 Calls ran from .42-2.54 for a daily gain of  % and the $19.50’s posted a range from .35-2.11, making total gains of up to % possible on the day.

The timing on our ideas came perfectly in sync with the company’s news that it would be hiring Constellation Brands (STZ) CFO as its new CEO (>>Read More)

Sun Kissed Industries, Inc. SKDI

We also highlighted SKDI as one to watch in yesterday morning’s premarket Extended Watchlist. The stock put up quite an intraday performance as it traded up from a low of .03, to a high of .16 on the day.

That works out to a single-session gain of 433% and serves as a perfect example of why we always try to include a daily Extended Watchlist, and why we will never quit speculating on the OTC entirely.

CVS Health Corp. CVS – Recap

Included in yesterday morning’s premarket report, was an post earnings options idea for CVS. Blue Horseshoe Stocks: More Bottom-Plays

Seres Therapeutics, Inc. MCRB

It was a pretty slow start to the week yesterday with the markets gapping up early, but falling into decline throughout the session. That didn’t stop the one fresh idea we did have in our morning report from posting a respectable performance on the day.

We referred to MCRB as a ‘prime bottom play’ and while it didn’t exactly explode out of the gate, what we did see was certainly a step in the right direction. From a low of 2.63, the stock ran a modest but solid 16% to a high of 3.06. More importantly, it preserved its momentum by holding the three-dollar mark into the close. A good first day by any stretch of the imagination.

We’ll continue to monitor our longer term options idea that we included, the MCRB 07/19 $2.50 Calls which stand to do well in coming weeks if the stock can continue to maintain the current trend. Yesterday’s session was the fourth consecutive day that the stock has recorded higher lows, and we’ll want to see more of that moving forward.

Verastem Inc. VSTM

Speaking of bottom plays, we’ve got another one to add to our radars this morning in VSTM. This stock has lost a ton of value over the past year, and recently began to show signs of a rebound. We like it for its technical setup and volatility potential. We will remain interested in tracking VSTM for as long as it can maintain support at 1.72 or better.

VSTM is considered by some to be a speculative buyout play as well. Just this week the company has reported positive early stage data on Copiktra, the company’s leukemia treatment under development. Definitely an interesting story to follow.

____

Celestica Inc. CLS

Perhaps even more attractive as a bottom play than the above mentioned stock, we’ve got CLS, which just began to show signs of life after recording a new annual low at the beginning of this month.

If the stock can manage to break its 50DMA at 7.09, there’s a real chance that it could produce significant gains, filling the gap to the topside on the chart. Interesting to naote about CLS as well, is that the company’s EPS has grown by nearly 90% over the past year. When taking that into consideration, its current valuation doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.
