Blue Horseshoe Stocks: New Highs for HMNY, MNKD

Helios and Matheson Analytics, Inc. HMNY

It was just yesterday morning that we were remarking on the continuously bullish tendencies of HMNY over the past few weeks since we began tracking it on September 20th.

To that point, we had seen a huge run from a low of 5.47 to 23.49, and then yesterday’s session brought another solid performance, and yet another new high. HMNY traded in a daily range from 22.75 to 28.70. That works out to a an intraday rise of 26% and an updated total on our overall observed move since 10/20 amounting to 425%

MannKind Corp. MNKD

Yesterday we were talking about some options calls we made on Friday for MNKD, the 10/20 $5.50 & $6.00 Calls, which have made some good moves, but we neglected to mention our success on the stock side itself.

A quick view of the MNKD Tag in our newsletter archive at BlueHorseshoeStocks.com shows that we’ve been consistently mentioning the stock over the past several months, and four times already since the beginning of October. Our observed low on the stock alone came in at 1.85, and yesterday’s new high for MNKD represented an overall increase of 276%

Moving back to the options side of things, those $5.50 Calls traded up from .71-1.60 (+129%) intraday, and from Friday’s low of .10, a total of 1500%  The $6.00’s saw a daily range .47-1.30 (+177%), and the overall move we’ve witnessed since Friday comes in at a whopping 2500%

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: AEZS Recap & More

Aeterna Zentaris, Inc. AEZS

It had been quite some time since the last time we mentioned AEZS in one of our reports, but were prompted to do so yesterday, after noticing some unusual premarket activity on our routine morning scan.

It’s certainly a good thing that we did, because the stock became our number one play of the day with an outstanding performance. It also happened to be the NASDAQ’s top gainer of the day. From an early low of 1.48 the stock shot up to a high of 2.80 shortly after 1:30, marking a single-session rip of 89%

The big move came on volume exceeding the monthly average by roughly 40 times, and the stock managed to hold well over half of its gains into the close, so we’ll be sure to leave AEZS on our radar as we head into the end of the week.

Marijuana Company of America, Inc. MCOA

Another point of focus for us yesterday was MCOA, which we signaled the previous morning, and subsequently witnessed a 38% (.02685-.037) upswing. We were mentioning that, along with the fact that an interesting PR had hit newswires which we felt could set the table for further gains, and we were correct in our assumption.

Perhaps also riding the wave of invigoration that has flowed back into the cannabis space as a whole over the past few sessions, MCOA continued its ascent, trading in a range from .0361-.0467 on the day. That was good for an intraday move of 29% and extended our two-session observed range on the stock to a respectable 74%

Sears Holdings Corp. SHLD – Options Idea

We’ve had some good fortune in the past with SHLD, and more specifically, its options chain. This morning, we’re spotting another possible opportunity on that front. The company will now be selling Kenmore appliances via Amazon.com, and as a result, the stock is gapping up over ten percent in premarket trading this morning.

To take advantage of the commotion, we’ll have our eye on the SHLD Weekly $9-10 Calls.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: DXTR, Options Recaps & More

Dextera Surgical, Inc. DXTR

Among our extended watchlist plays slated for observation in yesterday’s premarket report, was DXTR, a stock that we intially tagged on June 1st, and in which we witnessed a subsequent low of .1745. We included a second reminder on June 12th, and of course once again yesterday morning.

Yesterday the stock put up a fine intraday performance en route to setting new highs for us. From its daily low of .275, it ran as high as .3855, which comes out to a 40% jump. From our original low earlier this month, DXTR has risen 121% Volume over the past week has picked up considerably, and yesterday the stock traded more than five times its monthly average volume.

It also held more than half of its daily gains on that volume. In such instances, we always lookout for a continuation of momentum into the ensuing session.

Darden Restaurants, Inc. DRI – Options Idea

In the wake of a hearty earnings beat on DRI, whose chains include Olive Garden, Red Lobster and LongHorn Steakhouse among others, we focused on some options ideas, the DRI 07/21 $90-97.50 Calls.

While the moves weren’t quite on the level of many of our options calls, which often yield percentage gains in the hundreds and thousands, there’s still plenty of time before expiration and all the contracts in our observed range got off to a solid start.

$90 Calls – Range: 3.40-5.70 – Max Gain: 68%
$92.50 Calls – Range: 1.94-3.50 – Max Gain: 80%
$95 Calls – Range: 1.02-1.95 – Max Gain: 91%
$97.50 Calls – Range: .52-.94 – Max Gain: 81%

As we pointed out, these contracts don’t expire for a few weeks, so we’ll continue to keep an eye out for further activity in DRI.

Sophiris Bio, Inc. SPHS – Update

We want to keep SPHS on watch as well. We tagged this as a bottom play on Monday, and it has since made a modest move from a low of 2.07 to 2.41. While it just works out to a nominal gain of 16% so far, we’ll remain interested for as long as it maintains its new trend of recording higher highs and higher lows as it has each day this week.
