Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Leap Day Report

Happy Leap Day!

Good morning, Traders! Before we jump into today’s report- it’s February 29th- so we’d like to wish our readers a Happy Leap Day! On this, the rarest of occasions, we thought it’d be interesting to use our archives to do a four year time-warp back to the last leap day and see what we were talking about.

It turns out that we had signaled Energy Recovery, Inc. ERII as a bottom-play opportunity on the morning of February 29th, 2012, and it  turned into one heck of a long-term idea. The stock actually ran from it’s then-price in the 2.50-range to nearly 8.00 over the course of the next two years!

Flash forward to the current situation; ERII has been trending upward for the past two weeks solid, after having just announced an upcoming share buyback program a few weeks prior to that (>>View PR). Meanwhile, we have an RSI heading toward the power zone, and a MACD (not pictured) showing sharp upward divergence. We’ll monitor the stock in coming sessions on the chance that it continues the nice head of steam it has built up at the moment.

Updates on Recent Winners

INTREorg Systems, Inc. IORG

We first introduced IORG to our reports two Fridays ago, when the stock was trading as low as .62, and it has since gone on to reach a high of .88. This 42% rise came on relatively light volume. Given that IORG has such a low float (just 14.4M shares outstanding) it’s possible that only a slight amount of buying pressure can effect even larger gains than we’ve seen thus far, so we’ll have an eye peeled for increased activity.

Provision Holding, Inc. PVHO

PVHO first began appearing in our reports a few weeks back, and has continued to do so with regularity. On the day of our initial mention we observed a PPS of .084, and subsequent high of .18 (+114%). That was followed by an eventual dip back to .106 before rocketing to a new high of .25 (+136%). We’ll continue to track PVHO as long as it keeps inching its way up the chart.

Palo Alto Networks, Inc. PANW – Options Update

Among our options daytrading ideas from Friday morning’s report, one stands tall among all the others. The PANW Weekly $147 Calls ran from .10-2.00 for an incredible 1900% rip, marking not the first or second, but *third* gainer of 1500% or more for the week!

Fresh Idea: Taser International, Inc.TASR (03/04 $18.50-20.50 Calls)

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Revisiting TASR & More

TASER International, Inc. TASR

We’ve been tracking TASR since late November, and the stock has gained a good bit of ground over the last month, so we wanted to touch base and update readers on its performance so far. December 1st was the day we witnessed the low on TASR with the stock touching 20.79 during that session, and it hasn’t looked back yet.

Continuing orders from police agencies for TASER’s body-worn video cameras has fueled quite a run, as  the stock managed to break to new highs since we’ve been paying attention on Friday, despite the holiday-shortened week. TASR ran as high as 27.65, which, from the low we observed roughly one month ago, represents an increase of 33% It also puts the stock effectively in blue skies, trading as high as it has in ten years.

We like the trajectory TASR is on, with current events seeming to support a case for the stock going even higher. Amid growing calls for more law enforcement accountability from both the public and the agencies themselves, during a time when incidents between citizens and officials appear to be reaching critical levels, TASR is positioned perfectly to capitalize on the fallout. As we’ve mentioned before, TASER is a trusted name in law enforcement and the public arena, and thus a natural choice for technology that promises to create more transparency in local police departments. It makes it a story that we’re likely to follow over the long-term.

General Employment Enterprises, Inc. JOB

JOB has been on quite a run lately, coming up from the .20-range earlier this month, and we’re going to be monitoring the stock as we kick off another split-week. Over the past several sessions, JOB has pushed its way into blue sky breakout mode, and we’re going to be on the lookout for a continuation of the significant momentum that has been building in the stock.

At a certain point, profit-taking should begin to peel JOB back a bit, and so we’ll also be on the lookout for a dip-and-rip when that pullback leads to an eventual bounce.

American Apparel, Inc. APP

The last time we mentioned APP roughly a week back after seeing nearly 100% in gains, we gave the prices at which we wanted to see support hold as the .85-1.00 range. The stock has managed to maintain above a dollar for the most part, and we wanted to give it another nod this morning, and remind people that it still remains on our watchlist.

There seems to be a Golden Cross setting up on the chart, another reason why we want to establish a close watch over this play. Additionally, last year around this time and from roughly this price range, APP began a three-month run that brought it to well over two dollars. This has traditionally been a seasonal play for us, so we’re always open to the possibility of history repeating itself.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Two New Plays & TASR Recap

TASER International, Inc. TASR

We re-tagged TASR in yesterday morning’s watchlist along with a link to the new PR pertaining to the influx of orders for body cameras from several law enforcement agencies across the country (View PR).

We’ve been tracking this play continuously since we first inserted into our reports the day before Thanksgiving. Over those 5½ sessions, we’ve observed a low of 20.79 (12/01), followed by a gradual rebound to back above the $24-mark.

In this morning’s premarket, the stock has thus far made its way to a high of 24.72, which represents an increase of 19% over Monday’s low. We’re going to want to keep close watch on this play as the national dialogue over the need for more stringent police oversight continues to heat up. As we stated in one of our previous reports on TASR, TASER is already a trusted name in law enforcement/personal safety products, and thus a natural choice for many of the agencies now considering the implementation of body-worn cameras.

Alaska Communications Systems Group, Inc. ALSK

ALSK is running like a scalded dog in concurrence with an after-hours PR from yesterday regarding the sale of the company’s wireless division for $300M.

Already up over 60% in premarket trading, we’re going to be on the lookout for a dip-and-rip setup to occur. After a big initial push, we’re no strangers to sniping out profits on a course correction and subsequent rebound.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Alaska Communications (ALSK) has entered into a transaction to sell its remaining wireless assets to GCI Communications, Inc. (GNCMA) for $300 million and plans to use net proceeds to de-leverage its balance sheet. A stronger balance sheet, combined with top and bottom line growth, better positions the company to evaluate a variety of additional opportunities to create shareholder value.>> Full PR

Barristas Coffee Company, Inc. BCCI

We also have a possible momentum play to add to the mix this morning. In the wake of a PR announcing BCCI’s uplisting to the OTCQB yesterday, the stock began to trade up off of a  bottom and bull-rushed its way to close at its high of day (.05). The move occurred on more than 7X the monthly average volume, and any time we see momentum like that, we go on full alert for a potential continuation into the following session.
