Monday Recap, 3 Fresh Plays

Monday’s Movers:

We did fairly well with yesterday’s fresh ideas to kick off the week, even though the level of gain opportunities we saw were quite subdued as compared to the typical rippers we include in our premarket report. We had the CVX Weekly $150-152.50 Calls, the FDS 07/18 $420 Calls, and the NOC 07/18 $500-505 Calls on the radar, and here was the activity they exhibited on Monday:

Options Review

CSX Corp. CSX – We highlighted some fresh options ideas in yesterday morning’s premarket report and CSX turned out to be the prime target out of the bunch. We designated the CSX Weekly $77-76 Puts as our contracts of interest, and those ended up producing some respectable chances at intraday gains.

$167.50 Puts – Range: 3.53-6.75 – Max Gain: 91%
$170 Puts – Range: 3.21-6.00 – Max Gain: 87%

Abbott Laboratories, Inc. ABT –
Another of the targets we selected based on yesterday’s premarket earnings reporters was ABT. Our contract of interest was the ABT Weekly $83.50 Calls, and we’re pleased to report that those returned a multi-bag single session run.

Those calls ran from a low of 1.34 and subsequently reached 3.75, which was good for an intraday gain of 180%
____

JB Hunt Transport Services Inc. JBHT – On Tuesday morning, we signaled the JBHT Weekly $95-100 Calls as a potential play, and in addition to makling a 100% move for us on that day, yesterday brought even more solid gain opportunities. The $95 Calls ran from .65-3.30 for a walloping 408% while the $100’s took of from .05-.35, marking an incredible 600% rip in a single day!

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Multiple Updates

JB Hunt Transport Services, Inc. JBHT

The most interesting options trading candidate we are seeing from the pool of un-traded upon earnings reporters is JBHT, which dropped an extremely solid quarterly in the post-market yesterday. The company beat on earnings, year-over-year revenue, and bested expectations on guidance as well.

We are going to track a pair of contracts, the JBHT Weekly $95-100 Calls to try to take advantage of the resulting activity.

CORRECTION: Reviewing Friday’s Winners:

Yesterday, through a small error, our newsletters went out without the proper figures for our options ideas on Friday. Here are the correct gain totals.

$299 Calls – Range: .67-1.75 – Max Gain: 161%

Cigna Corp. CI Weekly $167.50-175 Calls

$175 Calls – Range: 3.70-6.55 – Max Gain: 77%

American Electric Technologies, Inc. AETI

We try to keep running tabs on everything we mention in our daily reports, and in AETI we have a stock that we tagged for observation at the end of May. In the seven ensuing weeks, the stock has more than doubled.

We observed a low of .60 in AETI subsequent to our initial alert and the stock managed to register a new high of 1.45. That works out to an overall rise of 142% and was good for the #2 spot on the NASDAQ gainers list for the day. If it can break previous resistance at 1.61, it will officially be in blue sky territory.

Tautachrome, Inc. TTCM

Our OTC play from yesterday morning was indeed a runner. The stock made an intraday move from a low of .0103-.0197, which marks a 91% gain on what amounted to more than five times the monthly average daily volume.

The extreme volatility here, like the options plays we select, is what makes this attractive to us as short-term traders. We’ll continue to keep an eye on TTCM for any other possible swing trade opportunities.

Taronis Technologies, Inc. TRNX

One we’ve been watching since Monday of last week is TRNX, which was trading for as little as .1832 following our most recent update.

It trended up to and closed at a high of .35 yesterday, and so far in the premarket this morning it has reached as high as .53. That’s an incredible swing of 189% inside of a week! We’ll want to see previous resistance at the 50DMA to hold as support on any pullbacks.

Successful Options Ideas

We formulated some quick-strike, post-earnings options ideas for Home Depot and Advanced Auto Parts in yesterday morning ‘s premarket report. Even with shaky market performance like we’ve seen this week, a good earnings play can go a long way, and we proved it yet again.

Both ideas we submitted produced instant results, with the HD contracts we signaled providing the biggest potential profit by far. Those gains were as follows:

Home Depot, Inc. HD Weekly $180 Calls
Range:
.40-3.00 –  Max Gain: 650%

AAP Weekly $170 & $175 Calls
$170’s Range: 9.89-14.83 –  Max Gain: 50%
$175’s Range: 5.80-9.90 –  Max Gain: 71%

More Fresh Options Ideas

We’ll keep the post-earnings options train rolling with another pair of ideas this morning. Especially during times of high market uncertainty, earnings related options plays are our go-to targets.

Canada Goose Holdings, Inc. GOOS Weekly $66-69 Calls
Macy’s Inc. M 12/07 $37 & 37.50 Calls

Bonus Idea:
We’ll also signal some SPY calls that will be in play provided it holds above $270 upon the open. In that event, we’ll be looking at the SPY Weekly $272-274 Calls.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: JDST, CNET, TTMI & More

Direxion Daily Jr Gld Mnrs Bear 3X ETF (JDST)

JDST, for those of you who may not be familiar, is a bear index for gold, which has been taking a pounding over the past couple of months, as world economies have seen a general pickup.

Many analysts are predicting a protracted bearish run from the precious metal, for instance Goldman Sachs has forecast gold to decline to $1,050 an ounce this year. Still others believe a trip to sub-$1000/oz prices is in the cards.

Should gold continue its downtrend, JDST is one way to leverage against that, so we’re going to have this index on our radar from this point forward. It could stand to see further increases while investors are turning to other classes of assets which are currently boasting healthier returns.

TTM Technologies, Inc. TTMI

TTMI is hitting our scanners this morning as a potential bottom play. The stock made a run toward the end of Thursday’s session, and spent the day Friday under general consolidation where it came down to bounce off of support at 7.28 in the last hour of trading.

We’ll be keeping an eye in the activity here today, on the heels of this morning’s news of an acquisition that will make the company one of the world’s leading manufacturers of printed circuit boards.

COSTA MESA, Calif. and ST. LOUIS, Sept. 22, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — TTM Technologies, Inc. (TTMI) (“TTM”) and Viasystems Group, Inc. (VIAS) (“Viasystems”) today announced the execution of a definitive agreement under which TTM will acquire all outstanding shares of Viasystems >>> FULL PR

ChinaNet Online Holdings, Inc. CNET

Another stock that popped up during this morning’s scan falls more under the category of a momentum play; CNET made a big move on Friday, and from the looks of things we should be on the lookout for some of that activity to carry over into this week. The stock is presently gapping up in the premarket, and as always when we see this scenario, we are open to the possibility of seeing a potential dip-and-rip on the chart.

The company also announced today that it had won recognition at yesterday’s Chinese eCommerce Industry Gateway Conference in Beijing:

BEIJING, Sept. 22, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — ChinaNet Online Holdings, Inc. (CNET) (“ChinaNet” or the “Company”), a leading B2B (business to business) Internet technology company providing online-to-offline (O2O) sales channel expansion services for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurial management and networking services for entrepreneurs in the People’s Republic of China, announced today that the company won the Best Company in Chinese Entrepreneurial SME Business Development Marketing at the 2014 Chinese e-Commerce Industry Gateway Conference. >>> FULL PR
