Options Review

In yesterday morning’s premarket report, we signaled our interest in tracking a pair of options ideas following earnings reports from BSX and CAT, going bullish on one and bearish on the other.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: PIR Run Continues & More

Pier 1 Imports, Inc. PIR

We began tracking Pier 1 toward the end of last month on the 27th. At the time, the stock was trading for as little as 3.92/share.

The performance it has put together over the last three-plus weeks has been nothing short of astonishing. Ignoring all market trends, the stock has been in a near-continual uptrend, which culminated at a new high of 14.64 yesterday. That represents an excellent 273% increase inside of a month!

Weatherford International plc  WFTIQ

Speaking of recent stock calls we’ve made that have enjoyed impressive performances, we wanted to update readers on the status of WFTIQ in recent weeks.

We initially alerted WFTIQ a couple of weeks ago on September 10th. We caught this one at a low of .0198, and it has now run to an even .04. That’s a two-week upswing of 102%

Fresh Options Ideas:
NKE Weekly $89-91 Calls
SPY Weekly $296-297 Calls

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Stock Updates & More

DURRECT Corp. DRRX

We began tracking DRRX last month, with our initial alert coming on the morning of 08/07. Subsequent to that report, the stock recorded a low of 1.22, and yesterday, reached a new high of 2.46.

That works out to a clean double-bag move of 102% in a matter of six weeks. The stock has been on the rise for two months now, so we’ll be interested to see where it will ultimately find itself.

Avadel Pharma Inc. AVDL

We freshly tagged AVDL in yesterday morning’s premarket report, and while it didn’t make our heads spin, the stock did produce a solid intraday gain on our first day of tracking it.

From a low of 4.13, the stock reached a high of 5.37 on the day, which registers as a 30% upswing. We’ll continue to keep it on our watchlist as we head into midweek.

Fresh Options Ideas:
KMX Weekly $88.50-90 Calls
RH 10/25 $165-160 Puts

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: OSTK Update & More

Overstock.com, Inc. OSTK

On Friday, we identified a  pair of options targets for OSTK, the 10/04 $15.50 & 16 Calls. Despite falling to the low side toward the end of the day, there were some early opportunities for our designated contracts.

The $15.50 Calls traded up from 1.50-1.90 for a notable 27% intraday move, while the $16 Calls traded in a range from 1.40-1.96 (+40%).

With the late session dip, OSTK fell considerably, but we view this as no less than a buy-in opportunity on these very same contracts. We like the chances of seeing a quick rebound, and the potential for further gains out of these plays over the course of the next trading week or two.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: SBUX Success & More

Starbucks Corp. SBUX – Recap

We formulated some options ideas for Friday morning’s premarket report, and among them were the SBUX Weekly $66-67.50 Calls. Continuing a trend that we carried throughout the week, we once again struck upon multi-bag gains off of an earnings related play. This type of trade has become one of our go-to moves for this very good reason. We urge any skeptics to rifle through our blog and check our record on this. We believe our success rate is unparalleled.

$66 Calls – Range:.65-1.65 – Max Gain: 154%
$66.50 Calls – Range: .40-1.35 – Max Gain: 238%
$67 Calls – Range: .22-.80 – Max Gain: 264%
$67.50 Calls – Range: .10-.49 – Max Gain: 390%
_____

We also had the WDC Weekly $43.50-45 Calls in Friday’s report, and despite the fact that only the $43.50’s ended up being in play, the potential gains they afforded traders were exceptional. They traded up from a low of .03 all the way up to .26- a move of 767% on the day.

Caterpillar, Inc. CAT

We’ll once again look to a premarket earnings release to provide us with the impetus for a fresh idea this morning. Caterpillar missed on profits and issued unimpressive guidance, as the company reported disappointingly low demand, specifically in the Chinese market.

We are going to take a bearish view on this for the near-term, and put the CAT Weekly $132-128 Puts on watch to kick off the fresh trading week.
