Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Bottom-Watch Plays & More

Ford Motor Co. F
Ford is the first of a couple of bottom-watch plays we want to signal for observation as we kick off a fresh trading week. The month of January was rough for the Detroit automaker, bringing a precipitous fall into heavily oversold territory.

We are just now, in February, beginning to see the signs of a recovery. As you can see on the snapshot of the chart below, the stock has just started to come off of being oversold and bounce off of its lowest PPS since August. The MACD also appears to be converging for an upcoming cross, and there’s a gap to the upside as well.

We’ll look to take advantage of this setup by tracking the F 03/02 10.37-11.37 Calls in the days and weeks ahead.

BioMarin Pharmaceutical, Inc. BMRN

Another potential bottom play we want to look at this morning is BMRN, which also recently has been beaten down to what we feel are unsustainable low levels. We’re getting a heavy multiple-bottom signal as the strength index is tumbling toward extremely oversold territory.

The look of the MACD suggests some further decrease or sideways trading could occur, which is why we’ll want to look at a set of extended term options contracts, the BMRN 03/16 $80 & 85 Calls. With over a month until expiration, that should give us ample time for the stock to realize the recovery it appears to be building toward.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: More Options Plays

Netflix, Inc. NFLX – Options Idea

On the heels of the company’s solid quarterly report including adding over eight million new subscribers, we selected the NFLX Weekly $247.50-255 Calls as as our options trading targets, even as the stock had already pressed to a new all-time high, and there were high premiums baked into the options prices.

Our bullish hunch turned out to be absolutely correct, with the stock surging out of the gate and ultimately reaching a high of 257.71. A secondary move was there

That move facilitated some very nice intraday opportunities in our designated contracts:

$247.50 Calls – Range: 4.87-8.02 – Max Gain: 65%
$250 Calls – Range: 3.66-6.40 – Max Gain: 76%
$252.50 Calls – Range: 2.68-5.03 – Max Gain: 88%
$255 Calls – Range: 1.90-3.80 – Max Gain: 100%

Fresh Options Ideas

Continuing along the theme of using big name earnings beats as leverage to make quick-strike options trades, we’ve got a a fresh pair this morning. Ford and GE are both coming off of being oversold, compounding the chance for solid runs off of their bottoms.

We’re going to radar some contracts in each chain to try to take advantage of the situation:

Ford Motor Co. F – Feb 2nd $12 & 12.50 Calls

General Electric Co. GE – Weekly $17-18 Calls

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Options, News Play & More

Insmed, Inc. INSM – Options Review

We originally submitted our idea for the INSM options chain on Tuesday morning, tagging the INSM 09/15 $27-30 Calls on the heels of the company’s release of promising Phase-3 topline study results for its rare lung disease treatment.

Yesterday morning we updated our readers after the stock had made a marginal move which allowed for notable gains in just one of the four contracts in our observed range. However, we doubled down with our interest in these plays, mentioning that it seemed likely for the stock to provide a better chance at more sweeping gains and that’s just what happened.

The following moves were made yesterday afternoon which facilitated solid potential profits for anyone who was following along with the action. Those highly impressive gains were as follows:

$27 Calls – Range: .95-3.00 – Max Gain: 215%
$28 Calls – Range:  .25-2.00 – Max Gain: 700%
$29 Calls – Range: .40-1.60 – Max Gain: 300%
$30 Calls – Range: .50-1.55 – Max Gain: 210%

Fresh Ideas:
GoPro, Inc. GPRO – Weekly $9.50 & $10 Calls

Trivago N.V. TRVG – 10/20 $15 & 17.50 Calls

NXT-id, Inc. NXTD

We’re seeing a sizable gap-up taking place in the premarket this morning on NXTD. The big boost in activity is stemming from a huge news announcement published today concerning a deal the company struck with Bank of America to get its ‘FitPay’ contact-less device payment solutions installed in more than 9,000 Bank of America ATMs. (>>View PR)

With a blockbuster announcement such as this, we’re definitely going to want to observe the action as we head into week’s end and beyond.
