Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Options Roundup & More

Options Roundup

All of our earnings-related options ideas from yesterday’s report saw increases during the session, so we want to kick things off today by going over those performances, as well as formulating another fresh idea.

FedEx Corp. FDX- Our idea for FDX was less about the earnings figures themselves which fell short of expectations, and more about the buoyed guidance. The investment community at large felt the same way, and as a result FDX made a really nice intraday run from just above $193, to just below $196. That allowed for our ideas, the FDX Weekly $192.50-200 Calls, to put up the following gains:

$192.50 Calls – Range: 1.86-3.96 – Max Gain: 113%
$195 Calls – Range: .90-2.96 – Max Gain: 218%
$197.50 Calls – Range: .29-2.37 – Max Gain: 717%
_____

Petroleo Brasiliero S.A. (Petrobras) PBR – An analyst upgrade coupled with a solid earnings report led us to signal a range of PBR calls yesterday. We mentioned the fact that we’ve had a ton of success on countless occasions in the past trading options in this play, and our streak kept on going. We offered both an idea for the weeklies as well as a couple with an April expiration for a longer-term play, (Weekly $9 Calls – 04/21 $9.50-10.00 Calls) and we saw notable gains in all of them:

Weekly $9 Calls – Range: .12-.27 – Max Gain: 125%
04/21 $9.50 Calls
– Range: .26-.34- Max Gain: 33%
04/21 $10.00 Calls
– Range: .14-.19 – Max Gain: 36%
_____

Dollar Tree, Inc. DLTR – We also highlighted the DLTR 04/21 $78-80 Calls, and while they did see marginal increases, it was nothing to write home about just yet. That’s why we just wanted to remind our readers that these are longer-term idea which could take some time to show us the sort of upward moves we’re looking for.
_____

FRESH IDEA:

Snap, Inc. SNAP – Our bearish signal on SNAP Friday led to success in the SNAP Weekly $20 Puts that we were watching. They gained 246% intraday running from .30-1.04.

Today, we want to reverse our strategy and go with some calls, the SNAP Weekly $22-23.50 Calls to be exact.

Moleculin Biotech, Inc. MBRX

We had MBRX in our extended watchlist yesterday, and were pleased with its solid performance on the day. The stock ran from 1.15 to a high of 1.51, which works out to a respectable intraday increase of 31% The move came on immense volume of more than 40X the 30-day average, so we’ll definitely be interested in continuing to track MBRX as we head into the end of the week.

Extended Watchlist:
DOLV, MCOA, CGIX, PENN, FEYE, HTGM, ZSAN

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Marijuana Madness Continues & More

Puration, Inc. PURA

It seems that the majority of the stocks we’ve seen make big moves in 2017 so far, are in some way related to the marijuana sector. To start things off this morning we want to go back and retrace our steps with PURA, which began on Thursday the 12th.

We saw a nice initial 30% jump, followed by a consolidation down to .03 on  Tuesday, and for the rest of last week it was one bullish session after the other. The impressive run culminated in a new high of .075 on Friday, which stands as an intraweek upswing of 150%

With such good price action and volatility, we’ll be sure to leave PURA on our massive running watchlist that essentially includes all high-liquidity stocks in, or related to, the cannabis space.

Rocky Mountain High Brands, Inc. RMHB

Speaking of cannabis related, RMHB was new to our reports on Friday, and it too is trying to capture a chunk of the consumables market with its hemp-infused food and beverage products.

The stock put up a solid move in its first session on our radar, making an early run from .092 to a high of .137. That works out to a 49% intraday pop, and any play posting those types of single-session numbers could certainly have more in store for us, so we’ll keep RMHB on our watchlist as well.

VanEck Vectors Gold Miners ETF (GDX) – Options Idea

The dollar has been looking shaky of late, as the various unknowns of a new administration has characteristically injected an element of fear into the marketplace. As a result gold has been on a month-long climb, and in the event that trend continues to carry, we’ll want to have an associated options idea at the ready.

One of the funds we like to trade for its correlation with gold is GDX, and in this instance, we’re going to put the GDX 02/10 $24-25.50 Calls on watch over the next several sessions.

Continued Cannabis Sector Surges

We’ve been all over the cannabis space for years, but the scope and intensity of our observation has been decidedly more focused in past weeks and months.  On Sunday, legalized recreational marijuana took effect in California and elsewhere, so you can all expect that the pot sector will be an area of continued interest as the industry as a whole is set to undergo huge growth and change in coming months.

We had a few reminders appear in Friday’s premarket report from among the vast group of pot plays we’ve tracked over an extremely long period at this point. PHOT and VAPE, two old favorites, both followed that up with solid intraday performances to close out 2016.

PHOT posted a nice intraday move from .0167-.0198 (+19%), while VAPE ran from .0122-.0167 (+37%).  We’ll continue to track these and other cannabis stocks, including but not limited to: MCOA, HEMP, MCIG, GRNH, TRTC, MYDX, MYHI, CHIT

More Updates:

Oceanic Research & Recovery Inc. ORRV – We began mentioning ORRV on Wednesday, and subsequently would witness a low of .0005. Friday the stock posted a huge finish to the year, running up to a new high of .00271. That marked a three-session swing of 442%  We’re going to be keeping an eye peeled for the possibility of continued momentum.

ERF Wireless, Inc. ERFB – Our first tag of ERFB came three Friday’s ago, at which time we would observe a low of .0013. It too broke out to new high on Friday, reaching .02. From our initial low that works out to an overall increase of 54% More gains could be on the horizon in this case as well, so we’ll be watching.

 Vanguard Natural Resources, Inc. VNR

We also want to put VNR on our radars as we kick things off on this short week. We’ve included a snapshot below and as you can see, a triple-bottom formation is currently in effect. We are going to be watching for a reversal, which, if the last couple of cycles are any indicator, could lead to a pretty significant PPS increase.

ProShares Short VIX Short-Term Futures SVXY

With the markets as a whole appearing to want to open up 2017 on a high note, we’re going to signal a range of bullish options calls for the SVXY ETF. We’ll be monitoring the SVXY Weekly $93.50-95.50 Calls.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Options, Bottom-Plays & More

New Options Ideas

After a relatively subdued half-day to close out the short week on Friday, we’re going to wipe the slate and start fresh today with a couple of options ideas. Based off of our initial scans and the premarket activity, we think each of these plays has the potential to help us start the week on a high note.

AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. AU – For this one, we’re attracted to the positioning on the chart, where, as you can see below, the stock has just begun to rebound off of its lowest PPS in roughly 9 months. Add that to some bullish premarket activity, along with a number of ripening indicators, and we’re very interested in the possibilities.

We’re going to be focusing in on the AU 1/20 $11 and $12 Calls, which gives us more than enough time to see the extended recovery we’re looking for.

_____

Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp. CTSH – Our interest was roused by CTSH in this morning’s routine scan, and it too is currently in a favorable position on the chart, coupled with an appreciable premarket gap-up which could lead to a strong session performance.

For this one, we’re going to be looking at the CTSH Weekly $57-60 Calls.

Lithium Exploration Group, Inc. LEXG

Here we have another prime bottom-play with LEXG, which has managed to put together a pretty good rebound off of 6-month lows over the past few sessions.

Currently trading at a low multiple around .0025, we’re looking at a stock that ran from similar levels to over .02 back in August. Even a fraction of such a move from current PPS levels would equate to sizable gain opportunities, so we’ll be putting LEXG on watch in the days and weeks ahead.

_____

CollabRx, Inc. RNVA – This one belongs in the bottom-bouncer category as well. RNVA is coming off of its recently established 52-week low, and appears to be geared up for a continued comeback. We’re going to have this one on close watch as well.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Wrapping Up the Short Week

Before we close out this 3-and-a-half day week, we’d like to take this opportunity to say, we hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday! We’re thankful for having such a great audience of faithful readers! You folks are the reason we get out of bed each day to provide our best insights and ideas on stocks, funds, and options! Cheers to you and yours!

Omni Health, Inc. OMHE

We included OMHE as a part of our extended watchlist on Wednesday morning, and the stock followed that up with a respectable performance on the day, despite a very quiet session, as is to be expected just preceding a holiday.

OMHE traded in a range from a low of .026 to a subsequent high of .038, which worked out to an intraday gain of 46% and it came on relatively heavy volume to the tune of nearly six times the monthly average.

Our timing in mentioning this play for the first time ever on Wednesday, was as good as can be, as the stock surged to a new annual high on the day. For these reasons, we’ll be sure to leave this play on our radar in sessions to come.

In an added note, Omni Health is actually a spinoff of a cannabis stock that we have mentioned in the past- MCIG.

Cannabis Roundup

Speaking of cannabis plays, we’ve continued to track the sector on the heels of this month’s elections, as was our intent. On the whole,  activity has been more subdued than expected due to a number of other hot-button areas that have enjoyed good performance, such as the shipping sector boom that we took advantage of a couple of weeks ago.

That being said, we are still as interested as ever in the marijuana space, and many of the plays we’ve been monitoring in that area put up solid numbers just prior to the holiday hiatus, so we just want to provide a quick update on the kind of intraday gains that were made possible:

Medical Marijuana, Inc. MJNA – Range: .083-.115 – Max Gain: 59%

Marijuana Co. of America, Inc. MCOA – Range: .0251-.0575 – Max Gain: 129%

American Cannabis Co. Inc. AMMJ – Range: .461-.8689 – Max Gain: 88%

Vape Holdings, Inc. VAPE – Range: .0058-.0115 – Max Gain: 98%

As always, we’ll remind everyone to keep a general watch over any and all pot plays, as you see the level of opportunity that the sector continues to bring to the table.
