Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Options, RMRK Recaps & More

Options Recap –
We cast a pretty wide net with respect to options ideas in the retail sector in our premarket report yesterday morning, and our efforts didn’t go unrewarded. Both EXPR and AEO provided us with some nice chances.

Express, Inc. EXPR – We were tracking the EXPR 09/15 $6 & $7 Calls. The $6’s traded in a range from .45 -.92 for a gain of 104%, while the $7’s logged an even 100% double-bag run from .15-.30.

American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. AEO –   For American Eagle, we were looking at the AEO Weekly $12 & 12.50 Calls. The $12’s recorded our biggest options gainer of the day with a 212% move from .08-.25, and the $12.50’s were another even 100% push , trading from .05-.10 on the day.

More Ideas –
We’ll keep the post-earnings retail options train rolling today with two fresh sets of ideas using the Abercrombie & Fitch Co. ANF and Dollar Tree, Inc. DLTR chains. We’ll have the ANF Weekly $10 & $11 Calls, and the DLTR Weekly $78-82 Calls on watch as we head into week’s end.

Rimrock Gold Corp . RMRK

We included RMRK in yesterday morning’s premarket report, after noticing some abnormal activity building up in the previous session.

It was a good thing that we did, because yesterday’s performance from the stock was explosive. It traded in a range from .0006 to .0025 on the day, for a fantastic single-session rip of 316%

The move occurred on volume of more than 1.8 billion shares traded; an all-time high for RMRK.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Retail Focus

Retail Focus

Macy’s, Inc. M – With the holiday season fast approaching, we’ll be on the lookout for retail plays with good upside potential, and Macy’s could be a good fit in that regard.

You can take a look at the chart below and see that the stock has just begun to show signs of a rebound after getting absolutely hammered earlier this month. Indicators suggest that the stock is rather oversold.

We’re going to radar a set of longer-term contracts, the M 11/17 $23 Calls, which should see a nice move if the stock can indeed regain the ground it’s lost over the past few weeks. There’s also a gap on the chart to the $28 area, the filling of which would propel those contracts to huge gains.

______

JC Penney Co. Inc. JCP – Another retailer we’ve talked about many times in the past, particularly leading up to and during the holidays, is JCP.

Similar to the above mentioned play, the stock took a punishing hit to its PPS over the past few weeks, and has shown the beginnings of a rebound. It has an even larger gap on the chart, and a chance to fill it even quicker.

The stock itself could end up being a good recovery play, but we’ll also want to put a couple sets of options contracts on watch as well, with the JCP 11/17 $4 and 4.50 Calls.

______

More Retail Ideas – Also in the retail sector, and each with premarket earnings beats, are American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. AEO and Express, Inc. EXPR. We’re going to radar the AEO Weekly $12 & 12.50 Calls, and the EXPR 09/15 $6 & $7 Calls.

Zion Oil & Gas, Inc. ZN

We also wanted to quickly update readers on the performance of ZN, after it was a topic of discussion in yesterday’s premarket report. While the stock didn’t break out by any means, it did trade from a low of 2.95 to a high of 3.42 for a modest 16% intraday move.

It did, however, manage to close just two cents below its high of day, so we’ll have it on continued watch this midweek, looking for the recording of higher highs and higher lows.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: New Options Idea & More

MyDx, Inc. MYDX

Trading in general was greatly subdued on Wednesday in comparison to Tuesday’s fast start to the short week, but MYDX was one of a couple significant movers among our mentions in yesterday’s report.

The stock traded in a range from .0036 up to .0064, which works out to an intraday push of 78% and it came on well over twice the monthly average volume.

Prior to this week, the stock had been consolidating heavily for quite a long period of time, and has now strung together two really solid sessions after registering a new 52-low on Tuesday morning. We’ll continue to monitor this play for the recording of higher highs and higher lows; another strong performance today would qualify it for full-on multi-day runner status.

420 Property Management, Inc. FTPM

Also coming off of yesterday’s report to have a respectable session was FTPM. This is one of the cannabis related plays that we tracked over huge gains back in October as the pre-election marijuana hype was reaching a fever pitch. With the sector seeing a comparatively mild yet still strong resurgence this week, FTPM is among those stocks reaping the short-term benefits.

We witnessed it run from a low of .0011 to .0019 yesterday on more than twice the average volume, which works out to an intraday pop of 72%  Like the aforementioned play, we’ll want to see the stock logging higher highs and higher lows for the remainder of the week.

American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. AEO

It’s been roughly a month since we dabbled in any AEO options, and we wanted to formulate an idea this morning granted the fact that the AEO chart is presently at a bottom and beginning to look ripe for a recovery.

Accordingly, we’d like to signal a range of extended-term options contracts in the AEO chain to put on watch in the days and weeks ahead. Unlike last month, when we went bearish with some puts after a mixed earnings release, this time we’re going the other way with the AEO 01/27 $15.50-16.50 Calls. With just under a month until expiration, it gives the stock plenty of time to make its move, so we’ll be watching closely.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Earnings-Related Options & More

American Eagle Outfitters, Inc.  AEO – Options Idea

Earnings-related options ideas are among some of our favorite plays to track, and that’s what we’ve got here with AEO this morning. American Eagle had a mixed earnings release, satisfying on profit expectations while falling short of on both sales and outlook. Granted that the stock was already looking a bit top-heavy, we’re feeling bearish about this play for the short-term.

To coincide with that instinct, we’re going to signal our interest in a range of puts in the AEO options chain. For possible quick-strike trades, we’re going to be looking at the AEO Weekly $19.50-16.50 Puts.

_____

Splunk, Inc. SPLK – We’ve also got a bullish options idea to bring to the table with SPLK, and this one is earnings-related as well.

The company posted a strong quarterly report yesterday and is surging as a result. In this case we’re going to highlight and track the SPLK Weekly $60.50-62 Calls.

Petrobras Argentina S.A.  PZE

While we’ve mentioned Petrobras countless times in our reports in the form of PBR, this marks the first occasion upon which we’re focusing on its Argentinian counterpart. The stock has been getting absolutely hammered of late, and with an OPEC deal seemingly close at hand, oil has begun to run. That’s why we’re going to be tracking this one over an extended time period from this point forward.

Should the production cut go off without a hitch, it sets PZE (as well as other oil stocks) up to regain a good bit of the ground lost in past weeks, so we’ll want to put this one on bottom-watch in the days and weeks ahead.

Yesterday’s Options Ideas

The options ideas contained in yesterday’s premarket report ended up performing extremely well for us, further outlining why we focus so often on options trading.

For American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. AEO, we were interested in $15-16 Weekly Calls after noticing its earnings beat, and we met with possible gains in all cases:

-The $15 Calls traded as low as .80 before hitting a high of 1.25, a gain of 56%

-The 15.50 Calls traded as low as .30, and hit a subsequent high of .75; an intraday increase of 150%

-The 16$ calls traded as low as .16 and hit a high of .35, which is equal to a 118% move.

Abercrombie & Fitch ANF was trending in the opposite direction, so we ventured a few conservative ideas* for Weekly $23-24 Puts and the stock continued its decline throughout the session, enabling considerable profits:

-The $23 Puts saw a low of .87 low and closed at 2.74 for an impressive 215% run.

-The $23.50’s rose from a 1.20 low and ended up closing at 3.00, marking a 150% jump.

– The $24 Puts went from a 1.53 up as high as 3.84, an intraday gain of 151%

This morning, ANF is continuing its decline in premarket trading, so traders who chose to hold any of these contracts would be up even more than the figures listed here.

*Please note that the contracts we selected, while they obviously did extremely well, were fairly deep into the money so as to play it relatively safe. Traders looking to assume a bit more risk could have chosen to strike outside of the money, and it would have paid off in a big way. For an example, we can refer to the ANF $21 Puts which traded in a range from .10-.90. (+800%).

Infosonics Corp. IFON

After appearing in yesterday’s extended watchlist, IFON rapidly produced a hearty early-morning rip. The stock opened up at 2.34 and ran as high as 3.18 in the first ten minutes of trading! Quick-witted traders could have come away with rapid gains of up to 36%
