Blue Horseshoe Stocks: FREE, DRL, BAA & More

FreeSeas, Inc. FREE

After we brought FREE to our readers in last Thursday’s report, the stock was trading as low as .675. It turned out to be a good bottom call for us, as we have now seen two consecutive days of higher lows, and yesterday FREE attained a high of .91 into the close.

That marked a two session move up of 35% and as the stock closed at the high of day, we’re going to want to monitor FREE for momentum carryover into today. We’ll also be looking for another session of higher lows and higher highs to signify that the uptrend remains on-track.

Doral Financial Corp. DRL

We’ve been tracking DRL since June 9th, (Trading at a low of 3.53) and in that span, we’ve seen some significant movement from this stock.

Last Thursday, in an update on DRL we mentioned that we’d pay careful attention to the stock “over the next handful of trading days.” That turned out to be a good idea, as we’d observe a low of 7.08 on Friday, and a subsequent high of 8.14 during yesterday’s session, a solid increase of 15%

Counting from the initial low we observed in DRL in June, yesterday’s high represented a gain of 130%

Banro Corp. BAA

We have a potential bottom-bounce play in BAA this morning. We caught this one on a routine scan and noticed how it has taken a huge dive over the past few weeks. After closing at .479 on 07/09, the stock came all the way down to close at .181 this past Friday.

The stock has begun to find support and bounce off of its base over the past couple of sessions, so we want to keep a close eye on BAA moving forward.

Yesterday’s Extended Watchlist Movers

We also had a couple of plays off of yesterday’s ‘EW’ that fared well.

TROV
TROV made a nice move from a low of 3.75, on up to 4.78, an intraday gain of 27%

MOBI
MOBI also gained some ground as it traded in a range from 7.47-8.60, for possible gains of 15%

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: PBR Options & More

Petroleo Brasiliero SA (Petrobras) PBR – Options

We’ve lost count of how many times we’ve called PBR correctly, but it has become a weekly, if not daily, sort of occurrence. If you recall, our report on Friday included a note proclaiming our interest in the “August 22nd $15.50 and $16.00 Calls for a swing trade into next week.” Already that prediction has begun to materialize in a big way.

PBR blew past $16 and even breached $16.50 during Friday’s session, and our target contracts both saw sizable increases. The 08/22 $15.50 Calls ran 73% in a range from .68-1.18, while the $16 Calls went from .44 to .79; a 79% jump.

The Weekly $16 Calls which have been a focus in each of the past few weeks, while a more risky proposition, yielded the highest potential rewards. Those ran from .05-.50 on the day; a 900% spike.

This morning in the pre-market, PBR has already traded as high as $17, so it will be interesting to see how much higher our potential gains on this idea will go. The first thing we’re looking to do this morning, is take enough profit off of the table to lock in our initial investment, then ride the rest of the way on the house’s money.

We’ll also be observing the overall temperament of the stock as we begin a new trading week, and will be forming further strategies as we go, so stay tuned!

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: CANV, ACHN, FREE & More

CannaVest Corp. CANV

CANV is a stock that recently fell off of a cliff, and found itself trading at 52-week lows.  We like to monitor such plays during their recovery, which has already begun in this case. Trading near its annual lows, CANV appears undervalued, especially in light of the figures contained in the earnings report put out by the company yesterday.

Highlights included a Q2 net income of slightly over $8M, as compared to a net loss of $348K for the same quarter in 2013, and over $9M in cash on-hand. We suggest you read the release in its entirety >>> FULL PR

Check out these websites for some background on Cannavest (http://www.CannaVest.com) and its subsidiaries, which include US Hemp Oil, LLC (http://www.USHempOil.com), and CannaVest Laboratories, LLC (http://www.CannaVestLabs.com).. We’re always interested tracking a revenue-generating company in the cannabis sector, and CANV fits the bill.

The stock was trading as high as $20.00 just a few months ago; regaining even a portion of the ground it has lost from current prices in the mid-$3 range would mean the chance at a significant profit for nimble traders.

Achillion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. ACHN

ACHN is a stock we began to track earlier this summer (June 9th) as it was in the midst of a massive surge. At the time we caught it at a low of 3.72, and it ran to nearly $8 over just a two-session span. In the following months, it had been trading in a rough channel between the mid-$6’s and mid-$7’s, and just cracked over $8 yesterday for the first time in more than a year.

This morning’s PR regarding the company’s hepatitis C drug, which was been found to cure all patients in mid-stage trials is also contributing to a huge gap-up that has the stock pushing the $10 mark in the premarket. At that level, we’re already looking at a 168% move up from the the lows we observed in June, and we’re certainly going to have the stock on more intensive watch moving forward.

FreeSeas, Inc. FREE

After appearing in yesterday morning’s extended watchlist, FREE went on to break above the 50DMA at .66, and run 28% intraday from .631-.809.  We want to see higher highs and higher lows acheived as this is another play coming off of its 52-week lows. We’ll need to see it maintain support above the previous 50DMA of .66 in order to keep our attention.

The spike we’re seeing here comes in conjunction with yesterday’s announcement that FREE had regained compliance with Nasdaq’s minimum stockholders equity rule. >>> FULL PR

PBR Options Ideas:

Continuing our coverage of the PBR options chain, we wanted to throw out a few quick ideas as the week comes to a close. We may be interested in the August 22nd $15.50 and $16.00 Calls for a swing trade into next week.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: DRL, PLUG Earnings & More

Doral Financial Corp. DRL

Following yesterday morning’s mention of DRL and the opportunities it has sent our way over the past couple of months, the stock once again provided for us. This time, it came in the form of a classic dip-and-rip, making its way down to an early-morning low of 6.80 before spending the rest of the session on the rise. We saw shares changing hands at 7.68 just prior to the close, a modest yet solid intraday move of 13%

Estimates have DRL’s earnings release pegged for the end of next week, so it should be interesting to see how this play fares over the next handful of trading days.

Petroleo Brasiliero SA (Petrobras) PBR Update

PBR has fallen into a consolidation pattern over the past couple of sessions, and we are monitoring the chart for signs of a bottom. The stock crept below 15.50, its lowest price in a month.

We’d like to see PBR get back above the 50DMA of 15.68, but in the meantime, we’ll  need to see support hold above the 14.50-mark. Once we observe the telltale signs of another turnaround, we’ll be able to re-form our options trading strategies.

Plug Power, Inc. PLUG– Earnings Released

Our regular readers are well familiar with PLUG, a stock that has graced our reports dozens of times over the years, which we tracked over a mind-numbing range, .135-11.72, from early 2013 to March of this year. This morning will be a good time to turn our attention back to this hall-of-famer.

We want to keep an eye on PLUG in the wake of its earnings release early this morning. The stock is presently gapping up on the strength of record revenues, and looks to be gearing up for an interesting session. We’ve taken an excerpt from the PR, and provided a link to the full release below:

Total revenue for the second quarter of 2014 was $17.3 million, comprised of $12.6 million of product revenue, $4.4 million of service revenue and $0.3 million of research and development (R&D) contract revenue. This compares to total revenue of $7.5 million in the second quarter of 2013, which was comprised of $5.6 million of product revenue, $1.5 million of service revenue and $0.4 million of R&D contract revenue.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: MCPI, DRL, KNDI & More

Med-Cannabis Pharma, Inc. MCPI

First up this morning is an update on MCPI, which has been a juggernaut over the past week, beginning on August 4th at a price of .355. We’ve tracked the stock every step of the way, and yesterday, were pleased to see it break over a dollar.

At the high of 1.14, we were looking at an overall increase of 221% over the span of only seven sessions. Those who may have just picked up on MCPI following yesterday morning’s report, still had the opportunity to score some quick intraday gains as the stock ran 42% over its daily range from .80-1.14.

Anytime we see such rapid gains over so short a period, it starts to feel like the time to take at least a portion of our profits off of the table. However, unsustainable increases often lead to dip-and-rip scenarios as we’ve already seen from MCPI, so we aren’t done tracking it by any means.

Doral Financial Corp. DRL

Another recent successful call is DRL, which we first took notice of back on June 9th, at which time the stock traded at a low of 3.53. More recently, we re-tagged DRL on the 23rd of July, at a price of 5.23.

No matter where you mark our starting point from, yesterday’s move to a high of 7.47 represented chances for significant gains. From the 07/23 alert, it marked a solid move of 43%, and  from our earlier 06/09 call, an overall increase of 112%

Kandi Technologies, Inc. KNDI Options

We’ve had KNDI in our reports and on our radars quite a bit this year. We’ve watched recently as the stock has consolidated over the past couple of sessions, and yesterday’s pullback to 17.03 seemed a bit exaggerated. The stock appears to be a gapper this morning, currently trading up in the high 17.50’s.

Should a reversal occur we’re going to have interest in the options chain, specifically the 09/20 $17.50 Calls. As usual, we’ll adjust our strategy accordingly as the overall trend becomes clear.

Side Note:

We want to radar NII Holdings, Inc. NIHD this morning as well, a stock that was recently hammered back to 52-week lows. We’ll monitor for the eventual bottom and any bounce opportunities that may present themselves.
