Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Winning Options Calls & More

Options Updates

Abercrombie & Fitch Co. ANF

We had very good fortune with most of the ANF options contracts we signaled in yesterday morning’s premarket report following an earnings beat. We were after intraday trade possibilities in the ANF Weekly $29-32 Calls, and with the exception of the $32’s which weren’t pushed into the money, gains of over 200% were available across the board.

$29.50 Calls – Trading Range: .29-1.10 – Max Gain: 279%

Petroleo Brasiliero S.A. (Petrobras) PBR

We also want to give a quick update on another extended-term idea we had recently. On Tuesday, we submitted PBR 04/01 $4 Calls for observation, and those have made a run from .13-.25 (+92%) as PBR has traded up from 3.55 to 4.13.

We expect the figures on those gains to keep rising today as PBR has advanced as high as 4.39 thus far in the premarket. We’ll be sure to stay on the trail of those contracts, with nearly a month left on the contracts before expiration. We’ll also keep an eye on the $4 and 4.50 Weekly Calls. Of course, we’ll look to roll our strike prices up if the situation dictates.

Aeterna Zentaris, Inc. AEZS

AEZS is a familiar play that we’d like to touch base with again this morning after noticing some interesting chart activity. The stock broke its 50DMA during yesterday’s trading session and is presently trending up in the premarket, testing resistance in the $4-area. The next area of resistance comes in at 5.18, where a gap on the chart begins, and extends up to the 6.50 level.

We’ve prepared a snapshot below which outlines the highlights of the current AEZS chart.

EffTec International, Inc. EFFI

EFFI is another recent mention we’d like to update our readers on this morning. After signaling EFFI in our watchlist on Friday, the stock has gone on to make a solid move. We observed a low of .0024 followed by a high of .0049, which works out to a 104% swing.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: SPY Review & More

SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY) – Options Recap

We continued to track our successful options idea from earlier in the week yesterday morning, as the SPY Weekly $188-191 Calls once again provided ammunition for some serious gains. Despite already having moved up considerably, we mentioned our expectations that those figures would be pushed higher and indeed they were.

As we did yesterday to save time, we’ll just outline the gains made by the bookend contracts of our observed range; similar gains would have been up for grabs in any of the contracts within. The $188 Calls extended their new high to 5.35, which represents a 226% overall move, and the $191’s  pushed to 2.68- a gain of 587% over Tuesday’s low.

In addition to tracking our initial idea, our trader’s chat participants* were offered a followup idea prior to the bell yesterday that yielded big-time profit chances as well. As you can see from the screen capture below, we mentioned the possibility of rolling strike prices up to the $189.50-193.50 range, and all of those contracts were winners as well.

To give an idea of the gains available in that range, the $189.50’s made a move from 2.14-3.99 (+86%), while at the upper end, the $193.50 Calls made a 326% rip from .23-.98. All in all, there was no way to go wrong with any of our SPY Calls as the overall markets solidified their first three-day rally of 2016.

Catalyst Pharmaceuticals, Inc. CPRX

We’ve spotted what could turn out to be a solid rebound play in CPRX this morning. On the heels of the company’s announcement that the FDA had served it with a letter of refusal pertaining to a recent NDA filing, the stock absolutely tanked.

The caveat is, the notice came with assurance that it was not related to the clinical data or perceived efficacy of the drug in question, but a filing error only. This means that the stock lost a good portion of its value in a single day for what seems to amount to nothing more than a clerical error (see chart below). We’ll be very interested to monitor the stock in coming sessions and observe its reaction.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: SVTE, SALE Updates & More

Service Team, Inc. SVTE

We placed SVTE on watch in Tuesday morning‘s report and have been rewarded with an amazing two-day run that has carried it from subpenny territory, straight into Pennyland.

The move we observed on Tuesday was a relatively modest 41% from the low of .0039 to the closing price of .0055, but yesterday, things really kicked into high gear.

SVTE opened up at that .0055 price-point and took off like a bat out of hell, reaching its impressive new high of .0188 shortly before 1PM. It marked an excellent intraday upswing of 242%, and boosted our two-session observed range to a laudable 382% Cheers to anyone who caught a piece of the action!

Pocket Games, Inc. PKGM

We’ve been exceedingly pleased with PKGM’s performance in the couple of weeks we’ve been tracking the stock, after having observed more than a 560% swing.

Yesterday brought yet another chance to make quick-strike profits off of this play from the outset of the session, as it quickly performed a dip-and-rip from the daily low of .0128 to the high of .0195 (+52%) in the first half hour of trading.

A secondary opportunity was afforded to those that continued to watch intently as PKGM came down to find support and make a solid rebound from .014 back to .018 in the closing minutes of the session. That amounted to an added 29% swing, and the stock closed just a tick below at .017. We’ll look for it to maintain support above yesterday’s swing-low in order for it to keep our interest moving forward.

RetailMeNot, Inc. SALE

We also want to provide a quick update on SALE, which we tagged as a bottom-watch play in yesterday’s premarket report. After taking an absolute beating over a poor earnings release, our timing in calling the bottom couldn’t have been much better as is evident on the snapshot below.

We’ve had luck in the past with stocks in these situations where investor disappointment leads to a knee-jerk selloff.  We’re going to leave SALE on our radars in the sessions to come, on the possibility that a protracted rebound is forthcoming.
