Blue Horseshoe Stocks: DRYS Recap & Much More

Dry Ships, Inc. DRYS

Yesterday we noticed that DRYS, a stock that has been in heavy decline since early this spring, had strung together a couple of decent sessions last week, so we tagged it for observation in our watchlist.

It was a good thing that we pointed it out when we did, because the move it made yesterday made the previous sessions’ activity seem like small potatoes by comparison. The Greek shipper made one of the largest single session leaps in its history, and we were right there waiting to take advantage.

From an early low of 13.60, the stock ran as high as 42.86 affording traders the chance to bank profits of up to 215% on the day. For a $10+ stock, that’s an absolutely incredible single-session move, and it came on well over two times the 3-month average volume. DRYS is now at its highest PPS since June, so congratulations to anyone who tagged along for the epic ride!

The stock is gapping up past the $50 mark in the premarket, so we could stand to see even further increases from this juncture.
______

Added Note:  We’re seeing ripple effects throughout the shipping sector, which is as hot as we can ever remember it being. As a result, we’ll place a couple other related plays on watch as well with SALT and TOPS.

Nokia Corp. NOK

We’ve had plenty of experience with NOK in the past, although we haven’t talked about it since May. We;re swinging back around this morning as we’ve noticed the establishment of a new 3-year lows on the stock.

We want to place the stock on bottom-watch at the present time as the chart is beginning to crack into heavily oversold territory, with the addition of a bullish MACD cross which just occurred. As you can see below, the histogram is also set to flip to the upside.

There’s potential for a good play on the stock itself, but of course, we’d also like to highlight a range of extended-term options ideas to use to our advantage if the eventual recovery plays out as we suspect it might. Our targets for the time being are going to be the NOK 01/20 $4 and $5 Calls.

Five Star Quality Care, Inc. FVE

We have an interesting scenario unfolding with FVE that we’d like to point out as well. On Friday, a Form-4 was filed on behalf of an FVE insider outlining the purchase of just under $54M worth of common stock executed at 3.00 (>>View Filing). The interesting thing is, the PPS on FVE was in the mid-$2 range at the time, where it still remains.

Such a vote of confidence by someone with inside knowledge of the company’s inner workings and future, is more than enough to sound the alarms for us. We’re going to immediately place FVE on watch and begin monitoring the stock for a reversal.

Added Reminder: Cannabis stocks are continuing to come back after a period of consolidation, after several new states voted put either recreational or medical marijuana on the books. Despite having many other things to focus on in the current markets, we don’t want to let marijuana plays slip off of our radar for even a moment, as the next big leg up could be just around the corner.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: NVDA Review & More

Nvidia Corp. NVDA – Recap
Focusing on NVDA Friday morning on the heels of its earnings beat turned out to be a fantastic idea. It was a great way to cap off a week filled with solid options trading ideas.

The stock itself made an incredible intraday run of nearly 30% and as a result, our specific area of interest, the NVDA Weekly $77-80 Calls, yielded some great chances for huge single-session profits. That included nothing less than 201% and one that even went for a ten bagger!

The potential gains were as follows:

$77.50 Calls – Range: 3.62-10.90 – Max Gain: 201%
$78 Calls – Range: 2.00-10.55 – Max Gain: 427%
$78.50 Calls – Range: 1.33-8.70 – Max Gain: 554%

$79.50 Calls – Range: .81-5.00 – Max Gain: 517%

Congrats are due to any of our readers who used our hunch to help bank a piece of these serious profits!

Cannabis Sector – Video Update

We also want to provide an update on cannabis stocks, which we promised to continue following on the heels of legalization happening in three states last week. We’ve done so in the form of a quick video review of some of the more high profile plays, like MJNA, CBIS, PHOT, GRNH, and NEWC.

After a pullback around election time, pot stocks in general began to gain steam again at the end of the week. We’ll be watching carefully for the recording of higher lows and higher highs across the board.

Primero Mining Corp. PPP

We also want to take heed of a bottom-watch play we’ve identified this morning. PPP reached new 52-week lows on Friday, after a disappointing earnings release earlier in the week sent the stock into a tailspin.

We’re always looking for bargains, and to find one in a gold play in the midst of a solid run-up for the precious metal, has the potential to be especially fortuitous. As a quick glance on the chart below will show, the stock is presently heavily oversold and searching for an ultimate low here. We’ll want to be ready to strike when the reversal occurs.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Options Success, MNKD & More

Eleven BioTherapeutics, Inc. EBIO

Out of four focal points for yesterday morning’s premarket report, three of them worked out very nicely. From the stock side of things, we had EBIO, which we designated as a potential momentum play after noticing it picking up steam in prior sessions.

Our hunch was good, as the stock ran from a low of 2.31 to 2.955 (+28%) on roughly nine times its monthly average volume. It was a relatively modest gain, yet we did see a temporary breach of the 50DMA as well as a strong close at 2.78. It was a solid enough performance to warrant further observation.

______

MannKind Corp. MNKD – We drew attention to MNKD on Wednesday morning and just want to provide an update on its excellent progress so far. In the past two sessions since then it has traded up from a low of .44 to .68 (+55%) in two bullish sessions. We’ll be looking for a possible continuation of that trend.

Options Winners

The other two winners from yesterday were both successful options ideas that we formulated on the heels of strong earnings reports, and the gain opportunities there were quite a bit larger.

We’ve come to routinely expect huge multi-bag intraday runs when we hit on a good post-earnings idea, and that’s just what we got from every single contract we signaled.

Macy’s, Inc. M – Weekly $38-41 Calls

$38 Calls – Range: 1.52-3.85 – Max Gain: 153%
$38.50 Calls – Range: 1.27-2.90 – Max Gain: 128%
$39 Calls – Range: 1.00-2.97 – Max Gain: 191%
$39.50 Calls – Range: .81-2.25 – Max Gain: 178%
$40 Calls – Range: .50-1.90 – Max Gain: 280%
$40.50 Calls – Range: .30-1.47 – Max Gain: 390%
$41 Calls – Range: .15-1.16 – Max Gain: 673%

Shake Shack, Inc. SHAK – Weekly $35.50-37 Calls

$35.50 Calls – Range: .39-2.00 – Max Gain: 413%
$36 Calls – Range: .37-2.62 – Max Gain: 609%
$36.50 Calls – Range: .35-.77 – Max Gain: 120%
$37 Calls – Range: .18-1.90 – Max Gain: 956%

Fresh Idea – Nvidia Corp. NVDA – Nvidia beat on earnings in a post-market release yesterday, and to correspond with the activity we’re observing here in the premarket, we want to highlight the NVDA Weekly $77-80 Calls* for potential daytrades.

*Our regular readers are well aware of the warnings we post every time we issue an alert, but for everyone just joining us, please be aware that trading options contracts with a weekly expiration on a Friday is a highly risky proposition, and should only be undertaken by expert traders!

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: CCTC, EBIO, Options & More

Potential Momentum Plays

Clean Coal Technologies, Inc. CCTC – In a characteristic move, CCTC repeated the history of its own chart, as a stock that seemingly likes to make volatile swings to the upside. It breached its 50DMA in a bullish manner yesterday, so we are going to tag it for observation today in the event of continued momentum.

The chart is showing a series of ripening indicators as well. In order to hold our attention, CCTC will need to maintain support at or above that 50DMA, currently at .153 on any pullbacks.

______

Eleven BioTherapeutics, Inc. EBIO
– EBIO is a stock we’ve come back to on several occasions in the past, and today, we want to circle around to point out its current status as a bottom-bouncing momentum play.

It hit four-month lows just five sessions ago, and has made a decent effort at a rebound since then, so we’ll keep it on watch for the possibility of further recovery.

Options Ideas

We’ve got a couple of earnings-related options ideas this morning as well. As our regular readers are surely aware, post-earnings options trading is one of our favorite and most reliable ways of rooting out rapid short term gain opportunities.

Shake Shack, Inc. SHAK – Weekly $35.50-37 Calls

Macy’s, Inc. M – Weekly $38-41 Calls

______

Reminder: We’re also still tracking our idea on Starbucks from last Friday, the SBUX Weekly $53.50-55 Calls. The stock has traded up to nearly $55 in the premarket today, so we’ll be open to the possibility of seeing our gains extended there.

Starbucks Corp. SBUX – Options Update

Our options idea from Friday morning, the SBUX 11/11 $53.50-55 Calls
continued to be good plays as SBUX stock posted some solid intraday activity even as many others faltered in the uncertainty of the elections. It allotted for us to see further opportunities over the multi-bag gains we’d already been afforded to that point.

$53.50 Calls – Range: 1.05-1.47 – Max Gain: 169%
$54 Calls – Range: .76-1.07 – Max Gain: 300%
$54.50 Calls – Range: .45-.69 – Max Gain: 458%
$55 Calls – Range: .23-.43 – Max Gain: 344%

The markets as a whole are showing trepidation over the events of the past 24 hours, but once again, we must remain open to the possibility of seeing further moves out of these contracts which have treated us well so far.

CANNABIS SECTOR UPDATE:

As expected California passed its recreational marijuana initiative on election day, with Nevada and Massachusetts following suit.  Medical pot passed in North Dakota, Arkansas, and Florida. As we stated before, the whole landscape of the cannabis industry is set to change now, as the country as a whole takes several leaps toward the end of nationwide prohibition.

It’s just the outcome we expected, and the ramifications will begin to come into clearer focus in the weeks and months ahead as we observe how each state will handle roll-out of the new laws.

Our sector-wide alert will continue indefinitely as the effects of the outcomes on the investment side of things materialize.

Potential Bottom Plays

MannKind Corp. MNKD – It’s been a long while since we’ve taken a look at MNKD, and we want to draw some attention to it this morning as a possible bottom play. It’s been in a general downtrend for the better part of four months, and looks like it could be in a good spot for a rebound from this juncture. We’ll reserve it a space on our radar moving forward.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. TEVA – The threat of a class-action lawsuit has produced a backslide in TEVA in recent sessions. It’s just the kind of consolidation on non-material developments that we’re always scanning for as course corrections can often occur following this type of activity, and sure enough, the stock appears to be rebounding in the premarket. To take advantage, we’re going to look to the TEVA Weekly $40.50-42.50 Calls.
