Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Updates, Bottom-Plays & More

Aeterna Zentaris, Inc. AEZS

We flagged AEZS on Wednesday’s morning, and saw rip its way to nearly a 90% gain. Then yesterday morning, we took note of the heavy volume and kept the stock on our radar.

It didn’t quite match the degree of the previous session’s move, but still followed it up with a solid performance, running from 2.55 to 3.29 on the day. That’s an intraday spike of 29% and a two-day upswing of 122% over our observed low of 1.48,  while volume was massive once again. We’ll be looking for AEZS to possibly continue its multi-day run, and would want to see maintain support at or above Wednesday’s closing price of 2.34 on any pullbacks, in order to remain interested.

ImmunoCellular Therapeutics, Ltd. IMUC

We want to radar IMUC as a bottom-watch play this morning. We noticed the stock had fallen to a new annual low yesterday, following the pricing of a public offering earlier this week, that is expected to be executed today.

We’re always on the lookout for battered stocks that could become rebound play candidates, and we’re always looking for charts with gaps to the upside and IMUC currently checks both of those boxes.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: XUII and PLUG Updates

Xumanii International Holdings Corp. XUII

XUII continued to run following the afternoon update we sent out yesterday, achieving a new high of day just prior to the close at .0026, marking a full 100% move in just a single day. The stock closed just one tick below at .0025, and ended up trading 744M shares, well over 10x the 3-month average volume going into the session.

Moving forward, we’ll be keeping a close eye on XUII, which will need to maintain support at or above .0018 in the worst case scenario to hold our interest.  That would be our theoretical stop-loss point, and as you can see on the included chart, the next major area of resistance doesn’t crop up until .0033.

Based on the momentum into yesterday’s close, we may be looking at a gap up from XUII first thing this morning. Ideally we’d like to see the 50DMA of .0024 hold as support.

Plug Power, Inc. PLUG

Reigning as one of our most successful picks of all time, PLUG has appeared in our reports more than 40 times since we first caught it at .135, near all-time lows on February 28th, 2013. We tracked this play from those levels all the way up to an astonishing high of 11.72 roughly a year later, so PLUG will always hold a special place in our trading hall of fame, and never really get taken off of our watchlist.

We want to bring PLUG back to the forefront of the conversation again this morning, on the heels of a PR that just hit the wires, regarding a big purchase order from the world’s largest retailer. The stock is gearing up for a gap-up in pre-market trading, so we’ll want to keep a sharp eye on this one. This is the kind of press that can lead to rapid short-term gains.

ATHAM, N.Y., July 29, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Plug Power Inc. (PLUG) today confirms the company has received a follow-on GenKey purchase order from Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. to add an additional, seventh, GenKey site to the original six-site contract it announced in February 2014. This additional site in Sterling, IL consists of 286 GenDrive fuel cell units and is planned to deploy in the third quarter of 2014. >> FULL PR

DEJ, PHOT & Extended Watchlist

Dejour Energy, Inc.  DEJ

We’re taking a look at DEJ this morning, an oil & gas play that is coming off of a recent bottom. Indicators on the chart seem to be ripening, so we wanted to put DEJ on everyone’s radar. As you can see, the RSI is coming off of being oversold, while the MACD is in the process of a bullish cross, with the blue bars on the histogram also flipping up to the bullish side.

Yesterday the company announced its entry into a letter of intent on a deal that will partner it with a privately-held energy company out of Singapore, and bring in a substantial amount of capital in the process:

VANCOUVER, British Columbia–(BUSINESS WIRE)-Dejour Energy Inc. (TSX:DEJ) (NYSE MKT:DEJ), an independent oil and natural gas exploration and production company operating in North America’s Piceance Basin and Peace River Arch regions, today announces that it has signed a Letter of Intent to create a strategic joint venture partnership with a private Singapore based energy company (‘SECO’) to develop the company’s Colorado oil and gas assets.

Upon completion of due diligence, legal documentation and requisite approvals expected prior to January 31, 2014, SECO will invest an initial sum of up to $27.5mm in 2014 and 2015 to earn an 85% share in Dejour’s interests in its Colorado properties  >> FULL PR

Growlife, Inc. PHOT

Many of you know, we’ve been pounding the table on PHOT and the marijuana industry as a whole for well over a year now. Beginning back in August, we started to ramp up our coverage of this stock. At the time PHOT was trading as low as .0299, and has continued to push the envelope ever since, bringing us up to the present where PHOT is now officially in Blue Sky Breakout mode.

The stock has reached lofty highs culminating in yesterday’s run up to .14, which represents an astonishing 368% increase off of the low we just mentioned, in just a few months’ time.

As is the case with any runner that’s streaking into the Blue Sky, we want to be cautious of a potential reversal. In the event of  pullback, we’d like to see support hold at the previous resistance level of .1045.

Important Industry Side Note: Not only have there been recent talks within the NY State legislature about plans for a bill that would legalize the drug in New York as it has been in Washington and Colorado, but Uruguay also recently became the first country in the world to effect nationwide legalization and regulation of growth, sales, and trade. The idea that marijuana prohibition is both ineffective and harmful on many levels is finally beginning to gain real headway in the mainstream.
